TOP NEWCOMERS

The sophomore class always produces talented newcomers to the rankings in the fall and this year was no different. Four names enter the top 50, including one in the top 10 who is also entering in the national rankings.

Axton Brewer RHP / 1B / Seaman, KS / 2027

We got our first look at Brewer at the MOKAN Fall ID and what we saw blew us away. The 6-foot-1, 186-pound right hander worked with an up-tempo delivery with a clean arm action that produced fastballs up to 90 mph in the zone on a cool October evening. Brewer also mixed a short and tight slider in the mid 70 and swing and miss change up. Brewer is a must see prospect for schools at the highest levels moving forward.

Reece Mattingly OF / 1B / Lansing, KS / 2027

At 6-foot-3, 190-pounds and a good mover in everything he does on the field, Mattingly jumps into our top 50 after putting up strong measurables at the Competitive Edge Scout Day. Mattingly's calling card is his left-handed swing which is polished beyond his years and we have seen produce consistently in games.

Merrick Ginden OF / RHP / Blue Valley West, KS / 2027

We haven't seen many game ABs of Ginden, but his 6-2, 170-pound frame and measurables from the Cavalier Scout Day jump off the page. A 6.86 runner with a mid 80s arm from the outfield and a top exit velo of 93 to go along with an average of 86 makes Ginden a must follow prospect.

Brody Hills C / 2B / St. James, KS / 2027

Hills was impressive behind the dish at the Cavaliers Scout Day where he showed off pop times of 1.93-2.04 with quick hands, clean exchanges, and throws on the bag. A catcher to watch in the class, especially as he adds size and strength.
