Head Coach Remarks:
"For this season we look to build off of the 2 previous years where we have won a Regional Championship. We return a lot of guys that have been a part of that success and experienced playing in the bigger games. We have some newcomers that have either gotten their feet wet a little or not seen much action that will step into much bigger roles this upcoming season. We look to make another run at an All-A State title and contend for a Regional Championship and get over the hump at the State Tournament. The last 2 seasons we have been beaten in the first round 2-1 by Harrison County in a great high school baseball game, and beat 2-0 by state #1 Trinity in another great baseball game. We look to build off those games and get the monkey off our back and advance deeper into that tournament!!" - HC Shane Simpkins
State Director's Input:
"Another talented roster awaits Head Coach Shane Simpkins as he will rely a little more on his talented staff and defense. The staff will be led by nationally ranked Isaac Duty, who is entertaining multiple offers and brings an upper 80s to low 90s heater with a vicious slider to go with it. Look for junior Bash Ryan to see some big game action with senior Jackson Hall logging more mound time. The big question mark for the Panthers will be the offense. They return seniors Isaiah Stanley, with his .404 AVG and 15 extra base hits, Bradyn Hall, who hit .400 along with swiping 31 bases and his lockdown defense in center field, and the above mentioned Duty who hit .318. After that, no regular hit above .261 and Pikeville will need some unproven players to step up in the lineup. Simpkins is expecting that help to come from three sophomores in Brayden Hagy, Zach McCoy, and Seth Hall, as well as freshman Gage Burgett. If that happens, and it’s a big if, the boys from the Eastern Kentucky mountains will have a real shot at winning the 15th Region and finding their way to Lexington for the third consecutive year." - Jamie Tessoff
