East Coast Pro: Day 2 Notebook

By Nathan Rode

TAMPA—After not finishing the second inning of the first game on Monday, Tuesday was a marathon at the East Coast Professional Showcase. By some miracle, six games were played in a 15-hour span with rain constantly lurking in the area. Since I’m staring at minimal sleep and still need to pack for my departure for the Future Games, I’m just dumping notes from the day. Enjoy!

+ RHP Anthony Molina (West Broward HS, FL) took the hill in the restart of the first game and started out sitting 92-93 mph, touching 94. He lost a couple ticks after each inning, eventually settling into the high 80s. He has a long, skinny frame and a long arm action that seemingly affects his command, which was lacking. His curveball was loopy at 68-71. He struck out four in three innings of work and allowed an unearned run on three hits. He also allowed a walk.
