Five Kentucky 2021 Uncommitted Arms

Chris Fuller
Kentucky Director of Scouting

Zach Haigis RHP / Dixie Heights, KY / 2021

Haigis made a jump in velocity as he sat 86-88 and flashed a sharp curveball at 72-74 that has a chance to develop into a power slider. Haigis has plenty of upside in his 6-foot-4, 180 pound frame. He also showed feel for a 78-79 mph changeup.
Spin rates : FB up to 2150, CB up to 2377. He is just scratching the surface of his potential to be a power arm at the next level.

Joshua Tucker RHP / McCracken County, KY / 2021

5-foot-10, 165 pound athletic frame. Long arm action, 3/4 slot. Pounds the zone with three-pitch mix. Touched 89, worked 86-88. Not afraid to pitch inside, in fact thrives on it. Shows ability to throw 70-72 curveball for strikes. Commands 76-77 changeup at bottom of the zone. Excellent pitchability. Velocity has made a big jump in the past year.
FB spin up to 2202, CB up to 1947.

Cole McMichael RHP / Butler Traditional Highschool, KY / 2021

Big 6-foot-7, 220 pound RHP continues to improve each time we see him. Just scratching the surface of his potential. Long/loose arm action. High 3/4 slot. Fastball works 86-88, occasional downhill plane. The 79-81 mph slider has become an out pitch with late break that produces swing and miss. Flashed a solid changeup at 80 mph. Will elevate fastball in two-strike counts. Fastball spin rate maxed at 2247 and slider at 2401. McMichael should have no problem adding velocity moving forward.

Sam Thompson LHP / St. Xavier, KY / 2021

Thompson showed his best velocity to date working 82-85 and touching 86 with arm-side run. The 6-foot-1, 175 pound lefty also showed a late-breaking 76-77 slider and feel for 76-79 chengeup. He has an athletic 6-foot-1, 175 pound frame, and has long/loose arm action and easy velocity suggest there is more velocity coming. One of the top uncommitted LHP's in the 2021 class.
Spin rates: FB up to 2299, Slider up to 2597

Jake Faherty RHP / Great Crossing , KY / 2021

Faherty has yet to work out his control issues, which has kept him on the recruiting board, but the arm is electric. His fastball sat 90-92 with elite spin rates up to 2652. He threw two breaking balls at 73 mph, one of which was sharp and in the strike zone with a spin rate of 2758. If he can figure out how to repeat his delivery, there is a special talent waiting to happen in his 6-foot-4, 170 pound frame that has plenty of room to add strength.
