PBR Future Games: Team Kentucky Outfielders

The PBR Future Games will kick off tomorrow with a position player workout at Grand Park in Westfield, Indiana. Team Kentucky position players will run 60’s, participate in defensive evaluations, and take batting practice on the field. Game play begins on Friday with Team Kentucky taking on Ohio at 4:00 PM and Indiana at 7:00 PM. The event will conclude on Sunday with a 4:00 PM game against Tennessee.

Here is a look at the Team Kentucky Outfielders for the event.

Outfielders

Davion Downey, OF, Warren East HS, 2017
Scouting Report 7/5/15 -
6-foot, 197-pound left-handed hitter with strong frame and good power, shows good discipline at the plate. Runs well, 4.31 and 4.33 down the line in summer game. Good arm strength from the outfield. Aggressive on the base paths. Downey was 3rd team All-State as a sophomore at Warren East. Made 2nd Team All-Tournament at the PBR 16U Invitational at WKU going 3-for-7 with a triple and seven walks.

Josh Morgan, OF, Sayre HS, 2017
Scouting Report 6/29/15 -
6-foot-2, 175-pound right-handed hitter hits from a balanced stance, short stride with good balance, good lower half torque in swing, line drive type hitter with gap power, impressed in BP consistently barreling the baseball, 85 mph exit velocity, should develop power game with additional strength, went 1-for-4 in game play with a single to left field and possibly the hardest hit ball of the day lining out to 3B. Plays through the ball with athletic actions, long high-3/4 release, 78 mph velocity with some carry and accurate throws, frame and bat make him a definite follow in 2017 class.

Sammy Mudd, OF, St. Xavier HS, 2017
5-foot-8, 155-pound right-handed hitter hits from a slightly open stance, short stride, short swing path, line drive type hitter who shows some pop for size, gap to gap approach, bat speed present, 88 mph exit velocity, ran 4.59 down the line, went 0-for-4 in game play making hard contact on a few occasions. Good defensive outfielder, plays through the ball well, athletic actions, long over the top release, good arm strength with online carry, 86 mph velocity.

Jaren Lovely, OF, Magoffin County HS, 2017
Scouting Report 6/17/15 -
6-foot, 160-pound left-handed hitter continues to make strides in overall game, hits from a balanced stance, short stride, line drive type hitter uses all fields, occasional gap power, short path with extension through contact, 84 mph exit velocity, 4.51 down the line, went 1-for-4 in game play making solid contact. Showed an increase in arm strength at 84 mph with good carry, very accurate throws, plays through the ball well athletic actions, made two impressive diving catches in game play.

Jack Schneider, OF, Daviess County HS, 2017
Scouting Report 6/16/15 -
6-foot-3, 190-pounds, athletic frame, right-handed hitter shows big power potential, balanced stance, short stride, plus bat speed, 98 mph exit velocity, good speed with 4.24 home to first time, went 1-for-3 in game play with a single. Made one throw from OF in pre-game workout that was 89 mph (had some elbow soreness). Has plus tools across the board with combination of speed, arm strength, and power.
