Q&A with Notre Dame Commit Joe Boyle (Fort Zumwalt West, 2017)

Joseph Boyle (Fort Zumwalt West, 2016) is a 6-foot-5 200-pound right-handed pitcher and has committed to Notre Dame. He was a member of the 90-mph club at the PBR Future Games. 
Boyle is impressive with projection and velocity. He long limbed, has an athletic frame,and throws with easy and loose arm action. He has a high three-quarters arm slot, with smooth rhythm in his delivery, stays in line down mound, and releases with downhill tilt,
Boyle shows feel for three pitches, a fastball at 87-90 mph, that has life with run and sink. His curveball is 73-74, 11-to-5 plane, sharp/late break, change-up at near fastball arm speed, 80-82 mph, arm side release.
Boyle is a top prospect in the 2017 class with a high ceiling. Here a look inside the recruiting process for Joseph Boyle.
PBR: What were your expectations about the recruiting process? Was it as expected? Easy/Difficult?
Boyle: I thought the recruiting process was going to be slower than what it was. It was a lot more exciting and fun than I would’ve ever thought. It was difficult to keep in touch with the coaches but it was definitely worth it
PBR: Did location or distance from home play a factor in your decision?
Boyle: Location played a small role in my decision. I knew I wanted to go to school in the Midwest but distance was not going to restrict my choice in schools.
PBR: Where did Notre Dame first see you? How did your relationship develop with them?
Boyle: Notre Dame first saw me at a showcase in Fort Myers and then again in Atlanta. My relationship developed over time as they saw me play more and I visited after the Future Games.
PBR: Who is the best player you have faced in your state, and why?
Boyle: Missouri recruit, Mark Vierling because he has a great overall approached at the plate and is a really tough out.
PBR: Describe you experience at the PBR Future Games.
Boyle: I had a lot of fun at the PBR Future Games. It was a great experience to be able to play with the best players in the state and to play against some of the best players in the country. It got me a lot of exposure in front of some great schools.
PBR: What advice would you give to young baseball players striving to get where you are?
Boyle: Work harder than anyone else. The harder you work, the more it will pay off in the end.
PBR: What do you do in the off season to keep yourself in baseball shape and prepare for the upcoming season?
Boyle: I lift and throw at P3 during the off season to stay in top shape for baseball.
PBR: What other schools were on your short list before you made your final decision?
Boyle: Vanderbilt, Virginia, Missouri, Wake Forest and TCU.
PBR: When did the recruiting process really start to heat up for you? Was there a particular game or event that you feel turned the corner for you?
Boyle: The recruiting process started to move faster when summer ball started after my sophomore year.
PBR: Preview your high school season for us. How do you feel your team will be? What are your expectations and goals? Name some players that will play a key role for Fort Zumwalt West in 2016.
Boyle: I think we are going to be really strong this high school season. I think we have a chance of making it pretty far in the playoffs. All the seniors will be a huge contribution to the team next year. If they take control of the leadership role, we will be very successful this season.
PBR: Where do you play in the summer? And what has been your most memorable experience with them?
Boyle: I play with the St. Louis Pirates in the summer. My most memorable experience was going 5-2 in East Cobb last summer.
