The 2019 spring high school season in Kentucky generated some incredible individual moments and performances throughout all corners of the state. As the spring high school season comes to a close, Prep Baseball Report is excited to announce one player who emerged ahead of the competition at all levels in the state of Kentucky. This player has been selected not only for their outstanding statistical numbers, but also for their overall effect on their high school program.

AJ HACKER, a senior right-handed pitcher and first baseman produced in every facet of the game in helping to lead his team to a State Quarterfinal appearance. The 6-foot-4, 190 pounder is headed to Morehead State following an impressive high school career.

On the mound this season for the Rowan County Vikings, Hacker compiled an 11-1 record. In 76.2 IP, he racked up 129 strikeouts to go along with a 0.54 ERA and 0.70 WHIP. As if that weren’t enough, Hacker also was a force at the plate where he posted a .461 batting average with 9 home runs and 52 RBI’s. In addition, Hacker had a .605 on-base percentage, an .814 slugging percentage, scored 49 runs, and drew 30 walks.

Hacker has had a profound impact on the Rowan County baseball program. Prior to 2017, the Vikings hadn't advanced to the Kentucky State Tournament since 1983. They made two trips to Lexington during Hacker's tenure with the program.

Hacker’s all-around performance, as well as the impact he has had on the Rowan County baseball program, has earned him the 2019 Prep Baseball Report Kentucky Player of the Year honors.

AJ Hacker has been selected by Prep Baseball Report Kentucky Scouting Director Chris Fuller and the team of PBR scouts who covered the high school baseball season throughout the spring. Hacker was selected amongst a strong group of candidates from across the state.
