Sophomore Spotlight: RHP Cameron Planck

By Chris Fuller
Kentucky Scouting Director

Cameron Planck, RHP/1B, Rowan County HSplanck

Cameron Planck is a 6-foot-3, 190-pound RHP/1B with an athletic and projectable frame who established himself as one of the top arms in Kentucky’s 2016 class throughout the five-week Fall Prospect Program.

Planck, currently ranked No.5 in the 2016 class and No.52 in the PBR 2016 overall rankings, uses long and loose arm action through a high ¾ arm slot to produce an 82-85 mph fastball.  His breaking ball, which varied between 72-76 mph during the program, shows sharp, late-breaking action and has the potential of being a swing-and-miss pitch for the sophomore.

Expect more velocity gains from Planck in the near future, and with continued development he is certainly a high-level pitching prospect in Kentucky’s 2016 class.
