Scouting Report

10/20/17 - Turned in another strong performance against the East Cobb Yankees. He threw just 2.2 innings, presumably coming out on a pitch count so he could return later in the event. He dominated the nine hitters he faced, striking out seven and allowing just one hit. His fastball was 88-90 mph in the first inning with arm-side life and settled into the high 80s. He pitches with a loose, easy delivery and just plays catch with his batterymate. The slider is a swing-and-miss pitch with big, sharp break.

9/16/17 - Dominated in three innings of work and made a case for being the state’s No. 1 prospect. A Michigan recruit, he’s athletic on the mound with a very easy delivery. It looks like he’s playing catch at 86-87 mph from a 3/4 slot. The ball jumped on hitters and to make matters tougher, Rom also mixed in a swing-and-miss slider with sharp, late break. In three innings, he allowed just two hits while striking out five.

7/2017 - 6-foot-2, 180-pound athletic, projectable frame. University of Michigan commit is currently ranked No. 2 overall in Kentucky’s class of 2018. On the mound the lefty throws using regular but not a whole lot of effort to his delivery. Lands in a straight line finishing with his momentum carrying in good direction toward home plate. Has quickness to his arm speed and throws through a ¾ slot. Fastball has arm-side run at times and was thrown between 87-88 mph and touched 89 mph one time. His slider is his best off-speed pitch and got a lot of swing and misses with tight, sharp, sinking action at 76-77 mph. He also showcased a changeup using fastball arm speed at 78 mph.

2/12/17 - Max FB: 88, FB: 87-88, CB: 75-76, CH: , SL: 76-77, SPLT: 74-77

2/12/17 - 60 Time: 7.20, Position Velocity: OF-93, Exit Velocity: 83

6/15/16 - Max FB: 84, FB: 82-84, CH: 75-77, SL: 74-77
6-foot-1, 168-pound LHP has the potential to be one of the top left-handers in the 2018 class. Rom’s armn be action is long and loose and works through a high-3/4 slot with minimal effort, fastball was mostly straight but works both sides of the plate, showed a late-breaking slider that was inconsistent in the zone, has solid feel for the changeup, allowed four hits in his two innings of work which was the product of elevating some fastballs in the hitting zone, also struck out three (two on FB one on SL). Rom’s breaking pitch needs some work, but he has all the makings of developing into a highly-sought LHP.

2/13/16 - Max FB: 84, FB: 81-83, CB: 70-74, CH: 78-80, SPLT: 73-74
6-foot-1, 163-pound LHP established himself as a top lefty in the 2018 class. Works through a high-3/4 arm slot with minimal effort in delivery, fastball showed occasional late cut action, shows ability to throw his curveball for strikes with sharp 1/7 action, throws a hard curveball for age, shows limited feel for changeup that needs more velocity difference off fastball, also showed a splitter that could be an effective pitch as he gets better feel for it.
