Unsigned Senior Games: Team Navy Middle Infielders

The PBR Kentucky Unsigned Senior Games event took place at Northern Kentucky University on August 8 and provided close to 50 unsigned seniors the opportunity to showcase their abilities to the PBR Kentucky staff and several college coaches in attendance.

The following is a look at the Team Navy middle infielders who participated in the event.

Matthew Gammon, SS, Shelby County HS, 2016
6-foot-1, 190-pound left handed hitter has improved speed and arm strength. Gammon ran 4.52 down the line with 82 mph velocity across the infield. Left handed hitter hits from balanced stance with a short stride, good use of lower half torque, generates good bat speed and creates lift, shows power to the gaps and pull side, 83 mph exit velocity (87 at previous event), went 0-for-4 in game play lining out hard to CF in one at bat. SHows soft hands defensively with athletic actions, very good body control with ability to throw on the move, long high-3/4 release with good arm strength at 82 mph across the infield, accurate throws with carry.

Brandt Pawley, 2B, Central Hardin HS, 2016
5-foot-11, 155-pound left-handed hitter hits from a balanced stance, short stride, good balance through contact, line drive type hitter with level swing path, 79 mph exit velocity off the tee (82 at previous event) went 0-for-4 in game play reaching base on a fielder’s choice, used speed to steal a base, ran 4.24 down the line (4.17 at previous event). Shows well defensively, soft hands with fluid movement and athletic actions, good body control, short ¾ release with accurate throws, 77 mph velocity across the infield.

Nick McKinney, RHP/2B, Oldham County HS, 2016
5-foot-9, 135-pound right handed hitter hits from a slightly open stance with a toe tap and short stride, arm bar creates some length in swing, line drive type hitter with 79 mph exit velocity off the tee, showed good speed running 4.43 down the line, went 2-for-5 in game play with singles to LF and CF, also used speed to steal a base. Defensively, showed solid hands, good lateral movement, short high-3/4 release with accurate throws, 79 mph velocity across the infield.

Michael Gammon, 2B, Shelby County HS, 2016
5-foot-10, 160-pound right handed hitter hits from a crouched stance with mid-length stride, long/level swing path that triggers from low hand set, arm bar in load but shows some hand quickness, took good round of BP with line drives to the pull side, 83 mph exit velocity off the tee, showed speed running 4.36 down the line, went 2-for-4 in game play that included an infield single. Showed well defensively with soft hands and athletic actions, gets rid of the ball with a quick exchange and short ¾ release, good body control with ability to throw on the move, 73 mph velocity across the infield.

Jonathan Frommeyer, SS/RHP, Conner HS, 2016
5-foot-8, 130-pound right-handed hitter hits from a wide stance with minimal stride, line drive type hitter with average bat speed, shows ability to use all fields well, showed average speed running 4.66 down the line, 75 mph exit velocity off the tee, went 2-for-5 in game play with two singles to CF (one bloop), showed some aggressiveness on the bases with a stolen base. Shows good lateral movement defensively, adequate hands, long high-3/4 release with average arm strength, 76 mph across the infield.
