Blake Carpenter, LHP/OF, Warren East HS, 2015

Carpenter is a 5-foot-11, 185-pound prospect with an athletic frame who showed solid two-way potential at the Top Prospect Games last June at Western Kentucky University.

On the mound, Carpenter uses long arm action through a high-3/4 arm slot, and he showed the ability to consistently pound the strike zone with all of his pitches.  His fastball sat 80-83 mph with his two-seamer showing some arm-side run.  Carpenter throws a 12/6 curveball with tight spin at 72-73 mph and a harder 76 mph slider to go along with his 71-75 mph changeup that shows good sink and fade.

As a position player, Carpenter plays through the ball well and he showed an accurate arm with 87 mph arm strength and good carry on his throws to the third base bag.  The left-handed hitter hits from an open stance with a long stride and shows good use of his lower half.  Carpenter gets the bat through the zone with quick hands and is a line drive type hitter with some occasional gap power.  He registered an exit velocity of 83 mph and went 1-for-4 in game play with a double.  In addition, Carpenter posted a 4.65 home to first base time from the left side of the plate.
