Updated 2014 Overall Rankings Released

The PBR Overall Rankings have been updated and for the first time in more than a year there is a new name at the top. RHP Jake Godfrey (Providence Catholic HS, IL) takes over the No. 1 spot, displacing RHP Cameron Varga (Cincinnati Hills Christian Academy, OH). Between the Tournament of Stars, Area Code Games and World Wood Bat Championship last summer and fall, Godfrey showed consistent improvement against high-level competition. Meanwhile, Varga has been on the shelf since June. He was shut down over the summer with biceps tendinits and opted to continue his rehab through the fall and winter rather than rush it to be back on the mound for the World Wood Bat Championship.

Several other prospects climbed the rankings after good showings at offseason events, namely the 2014 Super 60. LHP Keegan Baar (Hudsonville HS, MI) was one of the biggest risers, climbing to No. 14. The long, lanky Michigan State recruit sat 90-91 mph at the Super 60 with looseness. RHP Anthony Herron (Affton HS, MO) showed off a bevy of pitches there and jumped nearly 30 spots to No. 19. That puts two unsigned seniors inside the top 20 with Godfrey back on the recruiting market and Herron still waiting to make a decision.
