Updated and Expanded Class of 2014 Player Rankings

By Chris Fuller

With the summer events behind us, the time has come to update and expand our Class of 2014 player rankings.

Though we made this update several weeks ago, Micah Miniard (Boyle County RHP) is at the top, fresh off a summer that saw him receive invites and participate in prestigious events such as the Area Code Games, East Coast Pro Showcase, and the Under Armour All-America Game at Wrigley Field.  At 6-foot-7, 200-pounds, his projectability is tremendous, and his fastball has touched 93 with a power low-80’s slider.  The Western Kentucky commit is sure to receive plenty of draft attention next June.

Despite having Tommy John surgery in May, Lincoln Henzman (Lexington Christian Academy RHP) is in the No.2 spot.  Henzman, who has committed to Louisville, is on his way to recovery, and will be looking to regain the 90 mph fastball he had prior to the surgery.

Devin Hairston, an athletic middle-infielder from Tates Creek HS who has also committed to Louisville, remains in the No.3 spot.

The remainder of the top 10 remains relatively unchanged with the exception of Kaleb Duckworth (OF, Henderson County) sliding up a spot to No.10.  Duckworth committed to Western Kentucky following our Top Prospect Games Event in June.

John Hisel at No.5, Zac Wiley at No.8, and Connor McHugh at No.9 remain the top ranked uncommitted players in the 2014 class.
