KY Preseason ID: Quick Hits
February 5, 2025
On Saturday, February 1st, Prep Baseball Kentucky held our first showcase of 2025 at The Vault in Louisville with our Preseason ID event. This event is designed to allow staff to get an early look at players for evaluation before Summer invite only events, such as Top Prospect Games, State Games, Junior Future Games, Super Sophomore Games, and the coveted Future Games in Cartersville, Georgia. Below, you will find 5 players that caught our eyes with their performances.
2026 Bradley Myers (Bullitt East High School)
The Junior Future Games alum has gained noticeable strength in his now 6’1” 200 pound frame, and it showed with arguably the best BP round we saw all day. Checking in with well above average bat and hand speed to go with an average exit velocity of 86.9 MPH, topping out at an impressive 96 MPH. Myers also led the event with a max distance of 351’ per Trackman. Myers also showed smooth hands and footwork at 1st base which will clearly make him an asset defensively this spring. Look for Myers to be a middle of the order power bat as he continues to get better each time we see him.
2027 Drew Squires (Green County High School)
Squires packs quite a punch in his 5’11” 192 pound physical frame and showed some of the best overall skills at the event. The Junior Future Games alum and member of Team Kentucky at The Super Sophomore Games showed excellent hands defensively with the ability to make throws from multiple arm angles. Make no mistake though, it’s the bat that will have college coaches lined up to see this young man. Squires had a max distance of 317’ and shows a consistent ability to find barrels. Playing with a high motor to go along with an outstanding baseball IQ, he will be one of the most sought after recruits come August 1st.
2026 Landon Gilbert (Bowling Green High School)
Gilbert packs some serious punch in his 5’9” 175 pound frame and was at or near the top of the leaderboard in many categories. High energy with twitch and explosiveness as evidenced by an event leading 25.8 vertical jump per Vald. Controlled aggression at the plate with barrel after barrel from both sides of the plate for the switch hitting infielder, who has the Blast Motion numbers to back it up. Gilbert was certainly a big winner on the day if not the biggest.
2027 Noah Sekulski (Nelson County High School)
Unrecognizable is the word to describe Sekulski as we have not seen him since 2022, and what a difference that time has made. He now stands in at 6’5” 175 pounds with a frame to dream on that screams starter profile. Sekulski worked a hard sinking fastball with some feel for his three pitch offspeed arsenal. Slider is tight with cutterish action, changeup shows depth and late fade with a chance to be a future plus offering. Splitter is more than a show piece with spin rates killed well under 1000 RPM with fade. Make no mistake, there is still some rawness to the big Nelson County righty... if the velocity jump happens and he gets those long levers in sync, there will be schools lined up to have a conversation August 1st.
2026 Blake Jones (Tates Creek High School)
First time getting eyes on the 6’2” 176 pound righty and there are definitely some tools in place. Starts tall and gets down the mound with intent from a high ¾ slot. Easy arm action that flashes some carry to an 82-83 MPH fastball with command, and an above average spin rate of 2274 and a max of 2331 RPM. Showed some 10/4 slurvy action on the breaker with the make up to be a future plus offering at 72-74 MPH to go with impressive spin rates averaging 2600 RPM. Changeup is a developing pitch that will get better as he garners more feel. Look for Jones to ascend as he continues to gain strength in a still developing frame.
