More notes on many of the top performers from around the state over the last week.

2024 SS Wes Carr (Mandeville HS):   Athletic, strong build with a projectable body.  Defensively, Wes showed off his athleticism by making a tough, extended play up the middle on a hard hit ground ball.   At the plate, Wes hits from an upright, open stance with a toe-tap load.  Direct path to the baseball, with major extension that produced a 2 RBI double and another noisy barrel that was caught on the track.  Mandeville High School has an exciting young player for the next four years.

2024 OF/RHP Grant Edmonson (West Monroe, LA): Tall, lean build with plenty of room to add on weight. Hits from a quiet, simple, slightly open stance. Barreled the baseball up over the weekend while showing an above average run tool for his age.

2024 Jack Roberts LHP/1B (St. Paul’s HS):  Athletic, lean build with room to gain strength.  Hits from a balanced, athletic stance, with rhythm in his hands.  Shows feel for the strike zone with advanced plate discipline, drawing a pair of walks while flashing an accurate barrel hitting an opposite field line drive.

2024 Griffin Hebert OF (Sam Houston HS):  Athletic, high energy player that will be one to watch as he adds strength.  Hebert hits from an upright stance with good rhythm and balance throughout his swing.  Advanced plan and an approach at the plate to work up the middle and to the opposite field gap.  Hebert laced a nice 2 out RBI single on Friday into the left center field gap.

2023 1B/OF Landen Chustz (Catholic (BR) HS): Physical framed right-handed hitter has had a nice summer most recently hitting a game ending double and also flashing pull side power on a homer in an at-bat over the weekend. Landen flashes average bat speed with gap strength and pull side power potential. Another strong follow in the 2023 class.

2025 1B/RHP Karson Trichel (Ouachita Christian HS): Long, projectable frame with room to add strength. Left-handed hitter with a developing swing with natural strength and leverage. Flashes solid bat speed with glimpses of power potential down the road. Right-handed pitcher with advanced arm strength. Youngster has already started to work in the low 80s with feel for a breaking ball.

2025 RHP Jayce Guidry (Eunice HS):  Guidry worked mostly 75-80 mph, topping out at 83 mph from a 3/4 arm slot with a quick arm.  Changeup is a solid secondary pitch at 70-73 mph with some deception and fade. Young arm with advanced arm strength.

2021 RHP Kade Woods (Ouachita Christian HS): The physical framed right-hander had an impressive showing at the NPI. Worked 89-91 mph touching 93 from a high-¾ slot. The Alabama recruit will be an interesting follow as he enters his senior season.

2024 OF/RHP John Pearson (West Monroe HS): Physical right handed hitting infielder/right-handed pitcher with versatility. Right-handed hitter that has flashed solid bat speed and power potential. Has seen time at corner infield, outfield and on the mound. Clean, polished delivery with medium arm action into a high-¾ release with feel to pitch. Has been up to 85 mph this summer with advanced feel to pitch.

2024 INF Brody Forstall (Holy Cross HS): Athletic left-handed hitter hits from a wider, balanced stance with a large leg kick with lots of moving parts but shows advanced rhythm and timing at his young age. Flashed solid bat speed and the ability to consistently find the barrel during live at-bats. Has been a consistent performer throughout the summer. Has really swung the bat well and seems to have found a home at 3B.

2024 INF Michael Ryan (Rummel HS): Young right-handed hitter with a solid frame for his age. Athletic swing with solid bat speed in an advanced right-handed stroke. Has really been a game changer at the shortstop position showing range to both sides with enough arm strength to stick at short. Exciting player with impact ability both at shortstop and with a bat in his hands.
