Its late June and summer baseball is in full swing. We have baseball going on around the state with several talented clubs competing in numerous tournaments to showcase their ability. In an effort to make sure that the entire state is covered, the PBR Louisiana staff has hit the road to see several players in action. Here are a few notes from early summer action highlighting a few top performers on the mound on the 2020 summer circuit.

2021 RHP Chan Welch

Chan was impressive over the weekend in his most recent outing. Working 84-86 T87 with feel to pitch. Mixes well in the zone while varying his delivery. Pitchability has always been a plus and now the velo has ticked up, working up to 88 earlier this summer. High level competitor that continues to trend up.

2023 LHP/OF Jake Brown

Average height, solid frame with room for added strength. Left/left OF/LHP has become pretty well known in the state as a pitcher but showed his athleticism over the weekend with a bat in his hand. Flashing a loose athletic left-handed stroke with solid average bat speed and some feel to hit. On the mound, the southpaw works in the mid 80’s and has been up to 88.

2021 RHP Patrick Vienne

Northwestern State recruit. Strong, physical frame. Right-handed pitcher with a fairly simple, on-line delivery loading into back hip to create drive towards the plate. Long, deep take away into a high-¾ slot with a balanced finish falling off slightly to the first base side. Fastball up to 91 with feel for an average breaking ball. High floor with lots of upside.

2021 LHP Parker Morgan

Long frame, projectable build with room to add. Left-handed pitcher worked 80-83 with feel to pitch. Showed the ability to be consistently around the zone while moving the fastball around to both sides of the dish. Showed a curveball at 70 mph and a solid changeup at 73 mph.

2022 RHP Brooks Fawcett

Solid frame with present strength in lower half. Right-handed pitcher with an on-line, uptempo delivery, Long arm stroke into a high-¾ slot at working in the low to mid 80's with average command. Flashes feel for 2 breaking balls and a change up.

2023 RHP/INF Bryce Leonard

Athletic ball player. Solid defender with average actions and quality arm strength. Simple right-handed swing with present gap power and barrel awareness. Also, contributes on the mound where he runs his fastball up into the mid 80s with feel to pitch.

2023 RHP Tate Hess

Physical framed right-handed pitcher with a polished delivery. Strike thrower with feel for three pitches working consistently in the mid-80s with command to both sides of the dish.

2023 RHP Konnor Graham
