Head Coach Chad Hebert has built quite the program at Sam Houston High School.  The Broncos finished as a state semi-finalist in 2018, a state finalist in 2019, and a state semi-finalist in 2021.  Coach Hebert and the team are ready now, more than ever, to make that final push to the top of the mountain, and certainly have the team do so in 2022.  Sam Houston returns a plethora of talent on the offensive side of things and have experience seniors who will lead the way.  2022 C Ashton Fuselier (LSU-E Signee) will once again man the catching position for the Broncos and will likely hit leadoff, as he did last season.  2022 UTIL Andrew Glass (Tulane University Signee) will gives the Broncos depth behind the plate, as Glass can fill in nicely for Fuselier when he needs a break.  Glass will also be relied upon to pitch and play 1B.  2022 Luke Yuhasz (University of Louisiana Signee) is returning from an arm injury last spring and will play in one of the three outfield spots, as well as come in out of the bullpen in relief.  Returning Junior starters Dylan Thompson (LSU Commit) and Sam Ardoin (Texas Commit) will be key pieces of the Broncos offensive lineup, as well as their defense.  Both guys can play all three infield spots (SS, 3B, 2B), as well as 2024 Griffin Hebert (University of Louisiana Commit), who was a starter last season as a freshman.  Newcomers such as Dylan Bell and Grant Mathieu, should see significant innings for the Broncos this season.  On the mound, Sam Houston is inexperienced, however, they have more options than most people think.  Glass, Yuhasz, Thompson, Ardoin, and Hebert will all log meaningful innings this spring and because the team has position player depth, they will be able to fill in nicely when each is on the mound.  District 3-5A is one of the toughest districts year in and year out with the likes of Barbe, Sulphur, Acadiana, and Lafayette.  The Broncos have shown over the last 3-4 seasons, that they can handle the grind of this district, and come out prepared and ready for a playoff run.  There's no doubt that Sam Houston will be able to hit with anyone, as their lineup should be one of the most potent in the state.  As long as their arms can throw strikes, they have the defense to make plays behind them, which should lead to another successful season in 2022 and another appearance in the Class 5A State Tournament.
