2025 Team Preview: Airline High School

Alex Armand
Louisiana Scouting Director

The 2025 high school baseball season is quickly approaching and as usual, excitement abounds throughout the state.  Players and coaches have been working in preparation for the upcoming season and, as is the case each year, there are some very talented players and teams across Louisiana.

Teams across the state have goals and aspirations to finish their seasons in Sulphur, LA, home of the LHSAA State Championships, but there is plenty of work to be done before that becomes a reality.  We hope to familiarize our readers with many of the teams across the state as we preview individual teams across Louisiana.  We will take you right up to first pitch this season with these team previews, followed by our Power 25 Rankings release, and our always popular Game of the Week segment.

Please keep checking back throughout the season as we will be your one-stop shop for everything related to high school baseball across the Bayou State.  Each week, we will be releasing our Player and Pitcher of the Week, updating our Power 25 Rankings, as well as additional content that is focused strictly on high school baseball in Louisiana.

*Please note that all information is based on team preview questionnaires that were sent out and returned by the participating high school coaches.  If you have not received a questionnaire and would like to fill one out, please email State Director Alex Armand at [email protected]

Team Outlook

The Airline Vikings enter the 2025 season poised for improvement after a challenging 2024 campaign that ended without a playoff appearance. With a roster brimming with experience and a year of growth under their belts, the Vikings aim to leverage their young core to compete in the highly competitive Class 5A.

One of Airline's greatest assets heading into 2025 is experience. The 2024 season saw the Vikings rely heavily on sophomores, with 6-8 starting regularly and several others contributing. This trial by fire has prepared the team for a more cohesive and competitive effort in 2025. Additionally, the pitching staff returns nearly intact, with seven juniors and one senior who logged varsity innings last season. The depth and maturity of this group should anchor the team's success.

Top Returning Players

-Senior C Jack Horton: The veteran leader behind the plate, Horton is a defensive stalwart who provides stability and leadership for the pitching staff. His offensive contributions will also be critical as the Vikings look to improve their run production.

-Junior SS Bo Carter: Carter returns as the Vikings' dynamic shortstop, showcasing elite defensive range and a solid bat. His ability to spark the offense and anchor the infield will be key to the team’s success.

-Senior OF Micah Johnson: A consistent presence in the outfield, Johnson brings experience and reliability to the lineup. Look for him to set the tone as one of the team’s senior leaders.

-Junior 1B JH Smith: Smith is a two-way standout who will contribute both as a power-hitting first baseman and a key member of the pitching staff. His development will be pivotal to the Vikings’ hopes in 2025.

-Junior RHP Silas Endris: Endris returns as one of the team’s top right-handed arms. His ability to deliver quality innings will help solidify the Vikings' rotation.

While the 2024 season was marked by growing pains, the Airline Vikings’ wealth of returning talent sets them up for a brighter 2025. The combination of an experienced lineup and a deep pitching staff gives Coach Toby Todd a strong foundation to build upon. For the Vikings to make a playoff push, they’ll need continued development from their juniors and seniors, improved offensive consistency, and the ability to close out tight games.

With the lessons learned from last season, the Airline Vikings are ready to prove they belong among the contenders in Class 5A. The 2025 season promises to be a compelling one for a team on the rise.
