2025 Team Preview: North Vermilion High School
December 18, 2024
The 2025 high school baseball season is quickly approaching and as usual, excitement abounds throughout the state. Players and coaches have been working in preparation for the upcoming season and, as is the case each year, there are some very talented players and teams across Louisiana.
Teams across the state have goals and aspirations to finish their seasons in Sulphur, LA, home of the LHSAA State Championships, but there is plenty of work to be done before that becomes a reality. We hope to familiarize our readers with many of the teams across the state as we preview individual teams across Louisiana. We will take you right up to first pitch this season with these team previews, followed by our Power 25 Rankings release, and our always popular Game of the Week segment.
Please keep checking back throughout the season as we will be your one-stop shop for everything related to high school baseball across the Bayou State. Each week, we will be releasing our Player and Pitcher of the Week, updating our Power 25 Rankings, as well as additional content that is focused strictly on high school baseball in Louisiana.
*Please note that all information is based on team preview questionnaires that were sent out and returned by the participating high school coaches. If you have not received a questionnaire and would like to fill one out, please email State Director Alex Armand at [email protected]

Team Outlook
Head Coach Jeremy Trahan has built a title contending program, year in and year out, during his time at North Vermilion. The Patriots entered the 2024 season returning only one starting position player and three pitchers from 2023, and made it all the way to the LHSAA Non-Select D-II State Title game, where they fell at the hands of an uber-talenterd Lutcher team. Heading into 2025, Coach Trahan and company return three everyday position players and two of their best arms from last season's squad. The offense will be headlined by two returning seniors in Brody Lambeck and Jansen Deangelo. Lambeck is a utility guy for the Patriots and was the team's leadoff hitter last season. He finished the year with an OBP% over .400, and is an extremely aggressive baserunner. Coach Trahan is also expecting Lambeck to make the move from LF to 3B this season. Deangelo is arguably the fastest guy on the entire team and will return as the team's starting CF, after hitting .275 with 19 RBI and 18 SB during the Patriots 2024 campaign. Fellow seniors Devin Blanchard and Ethan Gaspard are in line to man down the middle of the infield with Blanchard the likely starting SS and Gaspard the likely starting 2B. The biggest hole that Coach Trahan has to replace this season is behind the plate with the loss of Cody Breaux, who is now at Coastal Alabama CC. Senior Collin Broussard is in line to fill that role and the Patriots also have sophomore Avery Stutes as another option behind the dish. 6'4" 215 lbs. left-handed hitting 1B Blaze Duhon is another returner that will be relied upon at the plate and on the mound this spring for North Vermilion. Duhon is expected to hit in the middle of the Patriots lineup, after hitting .250 with 2 HR, and 22 RBI last season. He'll also be a part of the team's starting pitching rotation this season, after logging a 2.56 ERA and a 4-7 record in 2024. Duhon sports a true four-pitch mix that includes a 81-84 mph FB, CB, CH, and SPLIT. Senior Isaac Russell was the Patriots #1 guy on the mound last season during their playoff run, as he posted wins in the regionals, quarterfinals, and semifinals. He finished the 2024 campaign with a 6-2 record with 2 saves and a 1.31 ERA with 48 K's. Russell is a supreme strike-thrower with a FB that sits in the low-80's. Juniors Drew Durke, Alexander Landry, Brock Broussard, and Kevin Marix should all log meaningful innings on the mound this spring as well. Overall, things are looking good for the 2025 Patriots, as they return the vast majority of their pitching staff from last year's team that finished as a State Finalist. The offense also returns 5-6 guys that received over 40 at-bats last spring and they'll be able to put constant pressure on their opponents this spring thanks to the amount of overall team speed. This team also has a alot of depth and will roll out quite a few different lineups, as Coach Trahan told us that he believes there about 14 players who will contribute to this year's team. How far will this team make it? Well, only time will tell, but we won't be betting against the Patriots based off recent history and the expectation of success that Coach Trahan has built during his time at North Vermilion.
