2025 Team Preview: Pineville High School

Alex Armand
Louisiana Scouting Director

The 2025 high school baseball season is quickly approaching and as usual, excitement abounds throughout the state.  Players and coaches have been working in preparation for the upcoming season and, as is the case each year, there are some very talented players and teams across Louisiana.

Teams across the state have goals and aspirations to finish their seasons in Sulphur, LA, home of the LHSAA State Championships, but there is plenty of work to be done before that becomes a reality.  We hope to familiarize our readers with many of the teams across the state as we preview individual teams across Louisiana.  We will take you right up to first pitch this season with these team previews, followed by our Power 25 Rankings release, and our always popular Game of the Week segment.

Please keep checking back throughout the season as we will be your one-stop shop for everything related to high school baseball across the Bayou State.  Each week, we will be releasing our Player and Pitcher of the Week, updating our Power 25 Rankings, as well as additional content that is focused strictly on high school baseball in Louisiana.

*Please note that all information is based on team preview questionnaires that were sent out and returned by the participating high school coaches.  If you have not received a questionnaire and would like to fill one out, please email State Director Alex Armand at [email protected]

Team Outlook

The Pineville Rebels enter the 2025 season with a strong sense of optimism, looking to build on last year’s playoff appearance under the guidance of Head Coach Cullen Guerriero. With a roster packed with experience and speed, the Rebels aim to compete at a high level in District 2-5A and make another run in the postseason.

Experience and speed headline the Rebels' strengths in 2025. Several key players bring significant varsity experience, giving Pineville a veteran edge in crucial moments. The team’s athleticism will also be a focal point, allowing the Rebels to put pressure on opponents both offensively and defensively.

Senior catcher Wes Oates and senior RHP/INF Aiden Ordner anchor the team as one of the most experienced duos in District 2-5A. Oates, a two-time 1st Team All-District catcher, enters his final campaign with 13 career home runs and a reputation as one of the district’s most reliable backstops. Ordner, a three-time All-District selection, is nearing 100 career innings pitched with a 3.60 ERA, showcasing his consistency as both a pitcher and infielder.

Senior Justin Rachal, the team’s REBEL Award winner in 2024, returns as Pineville’s top pitcher after a stellar 4-1 record and 2.97 ERA last season. His ability to contribute on the mound and in the outfield will be crucial. Senior Cohen Hardy, a returning starter in center field, brings speed and defensive stability, while seniors Noah Zell and Matt Edwards add versatility both defensively and on the mound.

Juniors Garrett Jackson and Austyn Taylor will look to take another step forward after combining for 36 innings pitched in 2024. Their development will be critical in bolstering the Rebels’ pitching depth and offensive production.

The Rebels have several underclassmen poised to make an impact in 2025. Sophomore Wyatt Griffith is a two-way talent expected to contribute both on the mound and at the plate. Freshman Kameron Roller will look to gain valuable varsity experience with his defensive versatility and potential on the mound, while sophomore Carter Smith adds depth to the pitching staff and will aim to make his presence felt.

Pineville’s 2024 season was marked by growth as the team navigated a challenging schedule and earned a second-round playoff berth. That experience will pay dividends in 2025 as the Rebels aim to return to the postseason and be playing their best baseball by year’s end. The combination of experienced seniors, emerging juniors, and promising underclassmen gives Pineville the tools to compete in a tough District 2-5A.

With Coach Guerriero at the helm and a team hungry for success, the Rebels are poised to make noise in 2025. If the pitching staff can step up and the offense can capitalize on their speed and athleticism, Pineville has the potential to take another step forward and challenge for a deeper playoff run.
