2025 Team Preview: Plaquemine High School

Alex Armand
Louisiana Scouting Director

The 2025 high school baseball season is quickly approaching and as usual, excitement abounds throughout the state.  Players and coaches have been working in preparation for the upcoming season and, as is the case each year, there are some very talented players and teams across Louisiana.

Teams across the state have goals and aspirations to finish their seasons in Sulphur, LA, home of the LHSAA State Championships, but there is plenty of work to be done before that becomes a reality.  We hope to familiarize our readers with many of the teams across the state as we preview individual teams across Louisiana.  We will take you right up to first pitch this season with these team previews, followed by our Power 25 Rankings release, and our always popular Game of the Week segment.

Please keep checking back throughout the season as we will be your one-stop shop for everything related to high school baseball across the Bayou State.  Each week, we will be releasing our Player and Pitcher of the Week, updating our Power 25 Rankings, as well as additional content that is focused strictly on high school baseball in Louisiana.

*Please note that all information is based on team preview questionnaires that were sent out and returned by the participating high school coaches.  If you have not received a questionnaire and would like to fill one out, please email State Director Alex Armand at [email protected]

Team Outlook

The 2025 Plaquemine Green Devils enter the season with a fresh outlook, a young roster, and a mindset focused on growth and development. Coming off a 20-17 campaign that ended with a first-round playoff loss to Jennings, head coach Seth Montz faces the challenge of building a competitive team with only two returning starters. Despite their inexperience, the Green Devils are determined to embrace their youth, develop their talent, and build a strong foundation for future success in District 6-4A.

While Plaquemine’s inexperience may appear to be a disadvantage, it also provides an opportunity for a new core of players to step up. The Green Devils are rich in young arms, with a deep pitching staff that should be the strength of the team.

Junior Christian Boudreaux, a two-year starter and 2024 Second-Team All-District selection, will lead both the pitching staff and the infield as the team’s shortstop. Catcher Tre Daley, a 2024 First-Team All-District selection, brings leadership and consistency to the lineup and the defense. Daley also led the team in hitting last year with a .325 average and extra-base hits, making him the cornerstone of the offense.

Joining Boudreaux and Daley on the mound are juniors Chris Lee (LHP), Reese Laprairie (RHP), and Jackson Jeansonne (RHP), along with promising sophomores Kelan Honore (RHP/3B), Brennan Miles (RHP/Corner INF), and Slade Sparks (RHP). Freshman Isaiah Daley (RHP/SS/OF) rounds out the staff as a strike-throwing right-hander who can contribute immediately. This depth on the mound gives Plaquemine the ability to compete in games where runs may be at a premium.

The Green Devils face the difficult task of replacing their top three starting pitchers, their entire outfield, and several key infield positions, including first base, second base, and third base. With no seniors in the program, the eight juniors on the roster will need to lead by example while also shouldering the burden of significant playing time.

The lineup remains a question mark heading into the spring, as the coaching staff evaluates players and battles for starting spots unfold. With half the team’s offensive production from 2024 gone, finding consistent hitters to support Tre Daley and Christian Boudreaux will be essential for Plaquemine to stay competitive in a tough district.

Tre Daley (Jr., C/RHP): A team leader and offensive catalyst, Daley is the heart and soul of the Green Devils. His ability to manage the pitching staff and deliver timely hits will be critical to the team’s success.

Christian Boudreaux (Jr., SS/RHP): A steady presence both on the mound and in the infield, Boudreaux will play a dual role as the team’s ace and shortstop. His leadership and all-around contributions make him one of Plaquemine’s most valuable players.

Kelan Honore (So., 3B/RHP): Honore showed flashes of potential as a freshman and is expected to take on a bigger role at third base while contributing on the mound.

Isaiah Daley (Fr., RHP/SS/OF): The younger Daley brings versatility and poise as a freshman. He is expected to be an immediate contributor on the mound and in multiple defensive positions.

For the Green Devils, the 2025 season is all about growth. With a roster full of young players, the focus will be on "Getting Better Every Day" and competing with "Pride, Hustle, Success." Staying competitive will depend on playing clean baseball, minimizing mistakes, and using their pitching depth to keep games close.

Coach Montz will rely on the leadership of Daley and Boudreaux to guide the team through early-season challenges while helping younger players adjust to the speed of varsity competition. The Green Devils must also capitalize on their new state-of-the-art facility, which has allowed for extra offseason work in the weight room and on the field.

The 2025 Plaquemine Green Devils are a young team with plenty of potential and an eye on the future. While this season may be a learning experience, the foundation is being built for long-term success. With a deep pitching staff and a relentless work ethic, Plaquemine could surprise some district rivals if their lineup comes together and the team matures quickly.

The Green Devils’ ultimate goal this year is to lay the groundwork for the next two seasons, and with the talent and effort they’re putting in, the future looks bright for this program. For now, it’s all about development, unity, and taking pride in the process.
