2025 Team Preview: Red River High School

Alex Armand
Louisiana Scouting Director

The 2025 high school baseball season is quickly approaching and as usual, excitement abounds throughout the state.  Players and coaches have been working in preparation for the upcoming season and, as is the case each year, there are some very talented players and teams across Louisiana.

Teams across the state have goals and aspirations to finish their seasons in Sulphur, LA, home of the LHSAA State Championships, but there is plenty of work to be done before that becomes a reality.  We hope to familiarize our readers with many of the teams across the state as we preview individual teams across Louisiana.  We will take you right up to first pitch this season with these team previews, followed by our Power 25 Rankings release, and our always popular Game of the Week segment.

Please keep checking back throughout the season as we will be your one-stop shop for everything related to high school baseball across the Bayou State.  Each week, we will be releasing our Player and Pitcher of the Week, updating our Power 25 Rankings, as well as additional content that is focused strictly on high school baseball in Louisiana.

*Please note that all information is based on team preview questionnaires that were sent out and returned by the participating high school coaches.  If you have not received a questionnaire and would like to fill one out, please email State Director Alex Armand at [email protected]

Team Outlook

The Red River Bulldogs enter the 2025 season looking to build upon last year’s successful campaign that saw them advance to the state quarterfinals. Despite losing seven seniors—three of whom went on to play collegiately—the Bulldogs return a strong core of experienced players who are determined to make a deep postseason run.

The biggest asset for the Bulldogs will be their returning arms, as two key pitchers from last season are back to lead the staff.

-Senior John Dickey IV: Logged 26.1 innings in 2024 and will play a pivotal role on the mound.

-Senior Aston Hester: Led the team with 59.0 innings pitched last season and will be relied upon as a top arm again in 2025.

-Senior Hunter Tingle: While primarily an outfielder, Tingle will also contribute innings on the mound when needed.

With Dickey and Hester as the workhorses of the staff, the Bulldogs have a solid foundation on the mound to compete at a high level in Class 2A.

Although the Bulldogs return only two full-time starters from last season, a strong junior and senior core has the potential to step up and fill key roles.

-Senior Hunter Tingle: Hit .316 as a junior and will anchor the outfield while providing additional innings on the mound.

-Senior Jake Pierce: Batted .250 last season and is expected to be a key piece in the infield.

-Junior Elijah Murphy: Hit .241 in 2024 and will be a steady presence in the outfield.

-Junior Nolan Moore: Posted a strong .333 batting average last season and will be a leader in the outfield.

-Junior Kade Martinez: Gained valuable varsity experience last year and will solidify the middle infield alongside Pierce.

Though the Bulldogs lost several veteran starters, these returning players have stepped up in fall workouts and will be key contributors to the team’s success this season.

Coach Todd Moore believes that this year’s team will be fueled by its dedication in the weight room and its collective goal of reaching Sulphur. With a strong work ethic and a group of players eager to prove themselves, Red River is poised to be a formidable contender in Class 2A once again.

While replacing last year’s senior class will be a challenge, the Bulldogs have the talent, pitching depth, and leadership to compete at a high level in 2025. If they can continue to develop offensively and stay consistent on the mound, another deep playoff run could be in store for Red River this spring.
