February 7, 2025
The 2025 high school baseball season is quickly approaching and as usual, excitement abounds throughout the state. Players and coaches have been working in preparation for the upcoming season and, as is the case each year, there are some very talented players and teams across Louisiana.
Teams across the state have goals and aspirations to finish their seasons in Sulphur, LA, home of the LHSAA State Championships, but there is plenty of work to be done before that becomes a reality. We hope to familiarize our readers with many of the teams across the state as we preview individual teams across Louisiana. We will take you right up to first pitch this season with these team previews, followed by our Power 25 Rankings release, and our always popular Game of the Week segment.
Please keep checking back throughout the season as we will be your one-stop shop for everything related to high school baseball across the Bayou State. Each week, we will be releasing our Player and Pitcher of the Week, updating our Power 25 Rankings, as well as additional content that is focused strictly on high school baseball in Louisiana.
*Please note that all information is based on team preview questionnaires that were sent out and returned by the participating high school coaches. If you have not received a questionnaire and would like to fill one out, please email State Director Alex Armand at [email protected]

The Riverside Academy Rebels are looking to build on their 2024 quarterfinal playoff finish under the new leadership of first-year Head Coach Jade Falgoust. Despite a challenging regular season, the Rebels showed resilience and growth, making a deep playoff run that has sparked excitement for the upcoming season. Coach Falgoust will lean on a core group of experienced players who have been competing together since eighth grade, forming a cohesive and determined unit.
One of the Rebels' biggest assets heading into the 2025 season is their pitching depth. With a solid mix of experienced arms and young talent, Riverside Academy will aim to control games on the mound and keep opponents off balance. The team's ability to rely on multiple pitchers should provide stability throughout the season.
Key Returning Players
-Junior RHP/INF Jayce Ruiz: The former Future Gamer played a pivotal role in the Rebels' playoff success last year, providing key innings on the mound and contributing offensively. He will be a cornerstone for the team in 2025.
-Junior LHP/1B Ayden Bullock: A consistent two-way player, Bullock brings valuable experience and leadership to the Rebels, excelling both at the plate and on the mound.
-Sophomore C/RHP Brody Vicknair: Vicknair impressed as a freshman, showcasing his versatility behind the plate and on the mound. His continued development will be crucial for Riverside's success.
Additional Key Contributors
Several other returning players are expected to make significant contributions in 2025.
-Sophomore RHP/INF Gage Thompson: A young player with promising potential, Thompson is expected to see an increased role.
-Junior Brock Bourgeois: Provides depth both offensively and defensively, and will be counted on for key contributions.
-Senior Kaden Brumfield: An upperclassman leader who will bring experience and stability to the lineup.
-Sophomore Colten Diamond: A talented underclassman who will be looking to make an impact.
-Senior Ryan Poche: A senior presence on the roster who adds leadership and experience.
With a new coaching staff and a talented core of returning players, the Rebels are poised to take the next step in their development. The team will look to improve their regular-season record and make another strong push in the playoffs. Pitching depth will be the key to their success, and if the offense can find consistency, Riverside Academy could emerge as a serious contender in Class 1A. Overall, the Rebels enter the 2025 season with optimism and a renewed focus, eager to build on last year's playoff experience and establish themselves as a force in Class 1A baseball.
