Teams across the state have goals and aspirations to finish their seasons in Sulphur, LA, home of the LHSAA State Championships, but there is plenty of work to be done before that becomes a reality. We hope to familiarize our readers with many of the teams across the state as we preview individual teams across Louisiana. We will take you right up to first pitch this season with these team previews, followed by our Power 25 Rankings release, and our always popular Game of the Week segment.
Please keep checking back throughout the season as we will be your one-stop shop for everything related to high school baseball across the Bayou State. Each week, we will be releasing our Player and Pitcher of the Week, updating our Power 25 Rankings, as well as additional content that is focused strictly on high school baseball in Louisiana.

Team Outlook
The South Terrebonne Gators are gearing up for the 2025 season with high expectations, thanks to a pitching staff and infield core that provide a solid foundation for success. Coming off a 19-11 campaign in 2024 and led by head coach Mike Barba, the Gators are eyeing a return to postseason prominence in the competitive 8-4A district.
The Gators’ strength lies on the mound, where they return an impressive 80% of their innings pitched from last year. Senior right-handers Parker Nelton and Grant Bowen anchor the rotation, giving South Terrebonne one of the most experienced and effective pitching duos in Class 4A. Nelton posted a 2.13 ERA over a team-high workload, while Bowen led the team in strikeouts and went a perfect 4-0 in 2024.
Brayden Clement, a senior shortstop and relief ace, adds another dynamic weapon to the staff. Known for his poise in high-leverage situations, Clement’s fastball has reportedly touched 90 mph in the offseason, further elevating his potential as a shutdown reliever.
Senior Ian Bowen, who tied his brother Grant for the team lead in strikeouts last year, is another critical piece of the puzzle. If he can improve his command, he could be a major factor in 2025.
Defensively, the Gators are equally formidable, returning four of five infield starters from last season. Clement, a standout at shortstop, is not only the leader of the defense but also one of the top offensive players on the team. First baseman Lincoln Dupre provides consistency and reliability both at the plate and in the field. The experience and chemistry of this infield should keep South Terrebonne competitive in tight games.
While the pitching and defense are clear strengths, the Gators’ offensive potential remains a question mark. The team returns just half of its at-bats and only 46% of its RBI production from 2024, leaving significant holes to fill in the lineup. Clement is the clear leader offensively after hitting .430 with 32 RBIs last season, and Dupre, who hit .302 with 11 extra-base hits, is another proven producer.
The Gators will need others to step up and contribute at the plate, especially as they look to replace their entire starting outfield. Finding reliable bats in the lower half of the lineup will be critical if South Terrebonne hopes to compete at the highest level.
Replacing all three starting outfielders from 2024 is a tall task, and the Gators will rely on new faces to fill those roles. Coach Barba and his staff will also focus on fostering offensive consistency across the lineup to complement their stellar pitching and defense.
With only three players remaining from the 2022 state championship team, this year’s group has the talent but must prove they can perform at a championship level. Their ability to deliver in key moments, especially against tough district competition, will determine how far they can go in 2025.
The 2025 South Terrebonne Gators have the pieces in place for a deep playoff run, thanks to an experienced pitching staff and a strong defensive core. If their young outfielders can step into starting roles and the offense finds consistent production beyond Clement and Dupre, the Gators could be a dangerous team come postseason. With their rich tradition, championship pedigree, and a coach who knows how to maximize his roster’s potential, South Terrebonne has the tools to compete in a challenging 8-4A district and make noise come playoff time.
