The 2025 high school baseball season is quickly approaching and as usual, excitement abounds throughout the state. Players and coaches have been working in preparation for the upcoming season and, as is the case each year, there are some very talented players and teams across Louisiana.
Teams across the state have goals and aspirations to finish their seasons in Sulphur, LA, home of the LHSAA State Championships, but there is plenty of work to be done before that becomes a reality. We hope to familiarize our readers with many of the teams across the state as we preview individual teams across Louisiana. We will take you right up to first pitch this season with these team previews, followed by our Power 25 Rankings release, and our always popular Game of the Week segment.
Please keep checking back throughout the season as we will be your one-stop shop for everything related to high school baseball across the Bayou State. Each week, we will be releasing our Player and Pitcher of the Week, updating our Power 25 Rankings, as well as additional content that is focused strictly on high school baseball in Louisiana.

Team Outlook
The St. Amant Gators enter the 2025 season with high expectations but face a daunting task of replacing a significant portion of their roster following last year’s impressive quarterfinal run. Head Coach Brandon Bravata is tasked with rebuilding a team that lost its starting catcher, third baseman, shortstop, center fielder, right fielder, and top three arms from a squad that finished 27-12 in 2024.
Despite these losses, the Gators are looking to build off the momentum of last year’s success. Their strength lies in their offense, with several key contributors returning to anchor the lineup. However, the team’s glaring weakness is its inexperience, particularly on the mound, as they return just 49 innings of pitching from last season.
Coach Bravata told us, "The Gators have a lot to prove after last season’s Quarterfinal run. The Gators will be replacing their catcher, 3B, SS, CF, RF, and their top three arms from last season. This inexperienced group will have to gel early and stay together through some growing pains in order to finish with a successful season."
St. Amant returns three key offensive contributors from a season ago in Seniors Jace Moody and Easton Humphrey, and Junior Landon Blanchard. Moody was a consistent presence in the lineup last spring, as he posted a .330 AVG with 1 HR, 7 2B, 1 3B, and 24 RBI in 2024. Humphrey hit .292 with 4 2B, 1 3B, and 13 RBI, while Blanchard hit .292 with 6 2B and 22 RBI.
As mentioned above, the Gators will have to replace a lot on the mound, but they do return a couple of guys who logged meaningful innings last season. Senior Nick Frederick is the most experienced arm returning on the staff, as he logged 25 IP with a 4-1 record and 1 save, to go along with a 1.405 ERA. Junior Jayce Reddicks showed flashes last year with a 1-1 record and 3.44 ERA across 20 1/3 IP in 2024.
The Gators’ 2025 season will be defined by how quickly their young and inexperienced guys can come together with the veterans. Offensively, the team has the talent to compete, with Moody, Blanchard, and Humphrey forming a solid core in the lineup. However, the biggest question mark lies in their pitching depth and whether they can find reliable arms beyond Frederick and Reddicks.
Coach Bravata’s challenge will be guiding this group through early growing pains and keeping them focused on the bigger picture. The schedule will likely provide plenty of tests, and the Gators’ success will hinge on their ability to overcome adversity and develop as a unit.
For St. Amant to replicate or exceed last year’s success, they must find consistency on the mound and in the field despite their inexperience. If the unproven arms on the pitching staff can mature quickly and the returning hitters lead by example, the Gators could once again make a run in the LHSAA Non-Select D-I playoffs.
