The 2025 high school baseball season is quickly approaching and as usual, excitement abounds throughout the state.  Players and coaches have been working in preparation for the upcoming season and, as is the case each year, there are some very talented players and teams across Louisiana.

Teams across the state have goals and aspirations to finish their seasons in Sulphur, LA, home of the LHSAA State Championships, but there is plenty of work to be done before that becomes a reality.  We hope to familiarize our readers with many of the teams across the state as we preview individual teams across Louisiana.  We will take you right up to first pitch this season with these team previews, followed by our Power 25 Rankings release, and our always popular Game of the Week segment.

Team Outlook

The Thibodaux Tigers are gearing up for the 2025 season with a mix of seasoned veterans and talented newcomers, hoping to bounce back after missing the playoffs in 2024. Under the leadership of Head Coach Shane Trosclair, the Tigers aim to leverage their offensive depth while addressing key challenges on the mound and in defensive positioning.

Offensive Depth is the hallmark of the 2025 Tigers, with a lineup stacked with experienced and versatile players. Senior leaders like Hunter Guillot (OF), Trent Billiot (C/UTL), and Grant Ridgway (2B) bring consistency to the plate, while junior Cade Chiasson (SS) adds athleticism and defensive range up the middle. Cohen Jarreau and Brody Folse provide additional firepower in the outfield, giving Thibodaux a deep lineup capable of producing runs in bunches.

Pitching Inexperience looms as the Tigers' biggest hurdle. While the starting rotation should be anchored by senior Brody Trosclair (LHP), who brings poise and experience to the mound. Trosclair, a Northwestern State recruit, went 5-2 last season with a 1.07 ERA, striking out 54 in 39 1/3 IP.

 

Coach Trosclair plans to use the preseason to finalize key spots in the lineup as well. An area to watch is at third base and in the outfield, as there are still open competitions for those roles.

With questions surrounding the bullpen, Coach Trosclair will need to establish roles for middle relief and closers. Building a reliable relief corps will be critical for the team’s success, as will solidifying the back end of the rotation. Developing depth and finding reliable arms beyond the starting rotation will be vital as the Tigers navigate a challenging Class 5A schedule. 

While the Tigers face challenges on the mound and in filling a few key positions, their offensive depth and senior leadership provide a solid foundation. If Coach Trosclair and his staff can solidify the bullpen and establish consistency in the rotation, Thibodaux has the tools to make noise in Class 5A. With a mix of experience and youth, the 2025 Tigers are poised to make a return to the postseason.
