2025 Team Preview: Zachary High School

Alex Armand
Louisiana Scouting Director

The 2025 high school baseball season is quickly approaching and as usual, excitement abounds throughout the state.  Players and coaches have been working in preparation for the upcoming season and, as is the case each year, there are some very talented players and teams across Louisiana.

Teams across the state have goals and aspirations to finish their seasons in Sulphur, LA, home of the LHSAA State Championships, but there is plenty of work to be done before that becomes a reality.  We hope to familiarize our readers with many of the teams across the state as we preview individual teams across Louisiana.  We will take you right up to first pitch this season with these team previews, followed by our Power 25 Rankings release, and our always popular Game of the Week segment.

Please keep checking back throughout the season as we will be your one-stop shop for everything related to high school baseball across the Bayou State.  Each week, we will be releasing our Player and Pitcher of the Week, updating our Power 25 Rankings, as well as additional content that is focused strictly on high school baseball in Louisiana.

*Please note that all information is based on team preview questionnaires that were sent out and returned by the participating high school coaches.  If you have not received a questionnaire and would like to fill one out, please email State Director Alex Armand at [email protected]

Team Outlook

After two seasons of falling short of expectations, the Zachary Broncos enter 2025 with renewed energy and determination. Guided by a strong senior core and bolstered by emerging underclassmen, this team is built to compete in all facets of the game. With leadership, depth, and a hunger to re-establish their dominance, the Broncos are poised for a memorable campaign as they aim to make a deep playoff run.

A senior-heavy roster sets the tone for the team, providing a solid foundation for accountability and competitiveness. With multiple returning starters across the lineup and pitching staff, the Broncos are equipped with the game knowledge and composure needed to navigate the challenges of a tough schedule. Versatility and talent are abundant, with many players capable of contributing in multiple roles and positions.

Top Upperclassmen (2025 & 2026 Class)

-Senior Fischer Romero: A versatile two-year starter, Romero is a cornerstone of the Broncos' roster. Whether manning an infield or outfield position, he delivers stellar defense and clutch offense. In 2024, he provided consistent production from the middle of the order while also proving to be a reliable arm on the mound. Romero's all-around game makes him a critical leader for Zachary’s playoff aspirations this season.

-Senior Skyler Andrews: The engine of the Broncos' offense; Andrews led the team in 2024 with a .361 batting average, a .471 OBP, and 29 stolen bases. As the everyday center fielder, he pairs elite speed with strong instincts, making him a catalyst both at the top of the lineup and in the field. His combination of athleticism and discipline will be key for Zachary’s offensive success.

-Senior Jake Lipscomb: A steady presence in the infield for two years, Jake is known for his keen eye at the plate and ability to drive in runs. In 2024, he scored 21 runs and added 17 RBIs, showing his knack for timely hitting and on-base ability. His consistency in the lineup and leadership on defense will be essential for the Broncos.

-Senior John Bradley: The team’s left-handed hitting catcher enters his junior season after finishing 2024 on a high note, posting a .365 average, a .474 OBP, and 13 RBIs in the second half of the year. Bradley's balanced game behind the plate and in the batter’s box solidifies his role as one of the Broncos’ most dependable contributors.

-Junior Madden McClure: Last season as a sophomore, McClure delivered in clutch situations off the bench. He'll see time at both first base and third base this season, and also brings depth to the pitching staff as a reliable bullpen option. His well-rounded skill set ensures he’ll make a big impact this season.

-Junior Braden Sanders: At 6'5" and 190 lbs, Sanders is a physical presence who combines raw power with surprising speed (6.8 seconds in the 60-yard dash). He hit .325 with a .455 OBP and stole 11 bases in 2024, and is primed for an even bigger year in 2025.

-Junior Noah Sullivan: A right-handed pitcher with elite tools, which includes an 88 MPH fastball with 22 inches of horizontal movement and a slider spinning at 2600 RPM. In 2024, he posted a 2.50 ERA, establishing himself as a dominant force on the mound. Sullivan's ability to neutralize hitters makes him a cornerstone of the pitching staff.

-Junior Cullan Howard: Has made significant strides as a pitcher, and has positioned himself as one of the Broncos' top three arms from this spring. With a reliable three-pitch mix and excellent command, he’s poised to take on high-leverage innings. Howard's defensive abilities also ensure his spot in the lineup when not pitching.

-Junior Collin Walls: A dependable infielder known for his stellar defensive skills and a go-to reliever out of the bullpen for the Broncos. Offensively, he impressed during summer ball with a .450 average, nine doubles, and a 1.347 OPS. Walls is poised for a breakout season and could be one of the Broncos’ unsung heroes.

-Senior Henry Green: A true two-way talent, Green is a standout outfielder with blazing speed and a pitching arsenal that includes an 88 MPH fastball and a high-spin slider. Known for his ability to perform under pressure, Green will be a critical piece in late-game situations and high-stakes matchups.

Top Underclassmen (2027 & 2028 Class)

-Sophomore Kam Bailey: A left-handed hitter, Bailey has the poise of a veteran despite his youth. He showcased his dominance during the fall with 26 strikeouts in just 13 innings pitched, backed by an 80 MPH fastball and a devastating slider. His advanced bat control and outfield instincts make him a player to watch this season.

-Freshman Cole Andrews: A young but polished catcher who has already turned heads with his defensive prowess. His 1.98 pop time down to second base highlights his advanced skill set. As he continues to develop, Andrews's presence behind the plate will only grow in importance for the Broncos.

There's a wealth of returning at-bats and innings on the mound for Coach Fisher and company this spring, which is one of the many reasons why Zachary fans should be excited for the 2025 season.  This year's group is fueld by inspiring senior leadership that sets the tone both on and off the field.  We expect the 2025 Broncos to make a lot of noise this spring, as they look primed to reestablish themselves as one of the top teams in Class 5A.
