Prep Baseball Report Louisiana continues its coverage of recruiting classes around the state with the McNeese State Cowboys. The Cowboys and second year head coach, Justin Hill, are starting to gain some momentum in recruiting after a successful start to their rebuild. Most importantly, they are having obvious success in securing players from their own backyard in that talent-rich Lake Charles area.

Jake Cochran, OF/INF, Sam Houston HS
A 6-foot, 180-pound outfielder and infielder from the Lake Charles area. Athletic frame with some present strength. Left-handed hitter with smooth short stroke, rhythm and tempo, bat speed, and a quality bat path. Average runner, and plays faster than his running times. Quality defender in both outfield and infield with arm strength, instincts, and soft hands. Versatile player that shows the ability to play several positions, with the left-handed bat making him a valuable piece.

Zachary Rider, OF/RHP, Kinder HS
A 6-foot, 180-pound outfielder and right-handed pitcher with an athletic frame. Right-handed hitter with a short path, quality bat speed and pull-side power. Athletic outfielder with tracking instincts and arm strength with quality carry on throws. On the mound he has command of three quality pitches, competitive and intelligent player, and has been a winner throughout his career. Short, quick arm stroke out of a high-3/4 release, fastball sits 83-87 mph with a little life. Flashes a quality slider with tight spin, depth, and feel for the pitch. Has a good feel for a changeup with good arm speed and thrown for strikes.

Shane Selman, OF, Barbe HS
A 5-foot-11, 185-pound compact athletic frame with a strong lower half and clear fast-twitch movements. Plus runner (6.5 60yd) with tracking instincts, aggressive nature, and arm strength as an outfielder. Right-handed hitter, swing gets long at times but has plus bat speed, pull power and creates good leverage. Rare player that throws left and hits right. Plays extremely hard, quality baseball IQ, and has shown to be a proven winner, including winning state championships and a national championship with Barbe HS in Lake Charles, LA.

Jacob Stracner, OF, Sam Houston HS
A 5-foot-11, 180-pound outfielder from the Lake Charles area. Physical, strong bodied athlete with fast-twitch actions and present strength. Plays extremely hard with a chip on his shoulder and is an extremely tough competitor. Above average runner with plus arm strength, smooth actions in the outfield and tracks balls nicely. Right-handed hitter with raw bat speed, good bat path, creates quality leverage in the swing and has present raw power.
