Bayou Preseason ID: Outfield Analysis

The Bayou Preseason ID took place on Saturday January 14th, at Southland Field in Houma, LA. The open event saw players from all across the state of Louisiana in attendance.

In the coming days we will have a complete analysis from the event, but today we will begin with analysis from the outfielders in attendance.

Outfielders

+ Matthew Badeaux, OF, ED White, 2019
A 6-foot-2, 165-pound outfielder with a lean, athletic frame.  Right-handed hitter that hits from balanced, athletic setup, smooth load, short stride, quality lower half and balance. Line-drive type hitter, fluid rhythm, level to slightly uphill path with bat speed that produced an exit velocity of 78 mph. Solid defender with average hands, developing footwork, and clean exchanges. Long arm action into high-3/4 release with accuracy on throws that produced a positional velocity of 68 mph. Also posted a 7.87 60-yard dash.

+ Fabian Bernal, OF, John Paul Stevens(TX), 2019
A 5-foot-6, 115-pound outfielder with a small, athletic frame. Left-handed hitter that hits from balanced, athletic setup, smooth load, leg lift, solid lower half, and quality balance. Line-drive type hitter, fluid rhythm, level path with bat speed that produced an exit velocity of 77 mph. Quality defender with soft hands, fluid footwork, and clean exchanges.  Long arm action into high-3/4 release with accuracy on throws that produced a positional velocity of 75 mph from the outfield and 72 mph from the infield. Also posted a 7.34 60-yard dash.

+ Dalton Durkes, OF, Houma Christian, 2018
A 5-foot-9, 140-pound outfielder with average, lean frame. Solid athlete that posted a 7.12 60-yard dash. Right-handed hitter that hits from athletic setup, hands held low, smooth load, leg lift, and solid lower half. Gap to gap type hitter with some rhythm, length in path, works slightly uphill, and bat speed that produced an exit velocity of 80 mph. Solid defender with average hands, clean exchanges, and developing footwork. Long arm action into high-3/4 release with accuracy on throws that produced a positional velocity of 74 mph.

+ Grant Gauthreaux, OF, ED White, 2020
A 5-foot-8, 140-pound outfielder with an average, athletic frame. Right-handed hitter that hits from tall, athletic setup, slight bar in load, short stride, solid lower half and balance. Line-drive, opposite field approach, some rhythm, short path and bat speed that produced an exit velocity of 75 mph. Solid defender with average hands, solid footwork, and clean exchanges. Short arm action into high-3/4 release with accuracy on throws that produced a positional velocity of 72 mph. Also posted a 7.86 60-yard dash.

+ Sean Price, OF, Pope John Paul II, 2018
A 5-foot-8, 140-pound outfielder with an average, lean frame. Right-handed hitter that hits from balance setup, slight bar in load, leg lift, solid lower half and average balance. Line-drive type hitter with early rhythm, some length in swing, and solid bat speed that produced an exit velocity of 81 mph. Solid defender with average hands, fluid footwork, and clean exchanges. Long arm action into high-3/4 release with accuracy and carry on throws that produced a positional velocity of 76 mph. Also posted a 7.32 60-yard dash.

+ Mason Turner, OF, Terrebonne, 2018
Nicholls State recruit, currently ranked No. 20 in Louisiana’s 2018 class. Lean 6-foot, 175-pound frame, athletic build, room to add strength and size. Right-handed hitter that hits from balanced, athletic setup, smooth load, leg lift, explosive lower half and solid balance. Line-drive, gap to gap type hitter with fluid rhythm, level path and bat speed that produced an exit velocity of 85 mph. Quality defender with average hands, fluid footwork, clean exchanges, and plays through balls athletically. Long arm action into high-3/4 release with accuracy, and carry on throws that produced a positional velocity of 89 mph. Also posted a 7.25 60-yard dash.
