Class Of 2022 Rankings Released

It’s been a busy summer across the state of Louisiana, as we have worked our way through the last few months, with PBR events, summer select ball, and tournaments, both on the state and national levels, it is time for us to release the class of 2022 rankings. While its still early, this class has already shown to be talented and deep. The initial list is 50 players deep, and as more prospects begin to emerge, it will expand. Here are a few highlights from today’s release of the 2022 rankings...

+ Future Games standout, SS Gavin Guidry (Barbe HS, LA) checks-in at No.1 in the newly released class of 2022 rankings. An athletic 6-foot-2, 165-pound middle infielder, Guidry established himself as one of the premier prospects in the country at the 2019 Future Games.

Gavin Guidry SS / RHP / Barbe, LA / 2022

Athletic 6-foot-2, 167-pound frame with lean build, and plenty of room to add strength. Extremely advanced defender with soft hands, athletic actions, fluid footwork with quick, clean exchanges and plays through the baseball athletically. Short arm action into high-3/4 release with easy carry and accuracy on throws across the diamond that posted a positional velocity of 90 mph. Instincts and feel to play defense with range to both sides, timing and arm strength to finish plays. Right-handed hitter that hits from balanced, athletic setup with simple, smooth load, short stride, and maintains balance throughout the swing. Line-drive approach with fluid, athletic rhythm, showing simple, direct path to the baseball. Showed ability to hit to all fields with bat speed that posted an exit velocity of 88 mph. Put together outstanding at-bats all weekend, consistent hard contact, handled velo and secondary stuff all weekend. Quality athleticism, posted a laser-timed 6.84 60-yard dash.

+ Coming in behind Guidry at No. 2 is Alabama recruit, RHP/OF Kade Woods (Ouachita Christian HS, LA). Woods busted on to the scene last January at the Pitchers Showcase, as the physical 6-foot-2, 175-pound right-handed pitcher ran his fastball up to 88 mph. He followed that up in May with a strong performance at the Underclass Trails, showing advanced ability on the mound, as well as, big raw power from the right side as a position player.

Kade Woods RHP / 3B / Ouachita Christian, LA / 2022

Alabama recruit, currently ranked No. 2 in Louisiana’s 2022 class, No. 161 Overall. Physical 6-foot-2, 175-pound frame, strong, athletic build, long limbs with room to add strength. The top pitching prospect in Louisiana’s 2022 class, has shown advanced arm strength at early age. Athletic delivery, works primarily out of stretch with fluid rhythm, level shoulders, and in-line direction. Long, clean arm action into high-3/4 release with quick arm speed and normal effort. Works downhill with steep angle and tilt, heaviness to the fastball with life in the zone and solid command at 86-89 mph. Showed advanced feel for a slider with sharp, late break at 78-80 mph. Swing-and-miss type pitch with tight spin and depth, showed ability to bury it, as well as, get it over for a strike. Flashed feel for changeup with fastball arm speed, deception, and arm side run at 81-82 mph.

+ Louisiana-Lafayette recruit, OF Zeb Ruddell (Neville HS, LA) has shown to be one of the premier left-handed hitters in the state for the class of 2022, and comes in at No. 3 in the rankings release.

Louisiana-Lafayette recruit, currently ranked No. 3 in Louisiana's 2022 class.Athletic 6-foot, 180-pound frame, strong, physical build. One of the premier hitters in Louisiana’s 2022 class, has showed advanced strength offensively early in his high school career. Left-handed hitter that hits from balanced, athletic setup, leg lift stride with smooth load. Athletic and confident in the box. Fluid, athletic rhythm with advanced bat speed, strength at contact and feel for the barrel. Gap-to-gap approach, consistent hard, loud contact with on-plane path, creates solid leverage in swing, produced a 91 mph exit velocity. Athletic defender with soft hands, fluid footwork, clean exchanges and plays through balls athletically. Long arm action into high-3/4 release with accuracy and carry on throws that produced a positional velocity of 86 mph.

+ Louisiana State recruit, C Ethan Frey (Rosepine HS, LA) comes in at No. 4 in class of 2022 rankings. Frey opened eyes in the recruiting world at July’s Underclass Games, as the physical 6-foot-3, 190-pound catcher showed big raw power from the right-side and advanced arm strength behind the dish.

+ Louisiana-Lafayette recruit, IF Tyler LeJeune (Iota HS, LA) rounds out the top five, as the left-handed hitter has shown to be one of the more advanced bats in Louisiana over the past year. LeJeune has been a standout at the last two Underclass Games, as well as the 2018 Junior Future Games, where he showed the ability to consistently find the barrel with bat speed and strength.
