Commitment Spotlight - 2024 Michael Ryan

Alex Armand
Louisiana Scouting Director

Our Preseason I.D. Events have been a huge success this January, as their have been numerous players who have made a name for themselves and college recruiters, with off-campus recruiting opening back up on March 1, 2022.  One of those players is 2024 SS Michael Ryan (Rummel HS).  Ryan attended our Southeast Louisiana Preseason I.D. on 01/08/22, at Mandeville HS, and turned in the best performance of the day.  He clocked in at a 6.59 (laser) in the 60 yard dash, showing he has plenty of speed to stay in the middle of the field.  His BP round was loud, as he consistently squared up the baseball, showing off middle to pull-side power, and a maximum exit velocity of 95 mph.  Just over a week after the event, Ryan headed to Baton Rouge, LA, to participate in a LSU prospect camp and soon after, was offered and ultimately committed to Coach Jay Johnson and the Tigers.  Below, we discuss his recruiting journey, who he's thankful for, and advice for the next wave of prospects.  Congratulations again to Michael and his family on his commitment to Louisiana State University!

Congratulations on committing to Louisiana State University!  What led you to ultimately commit to Coach Jay Johnson and the Tigers?

What led me to commit to LSU was that I love the coaches and have confidence in them to get me to where I want to be.  Also, LSU has always been a dream of mine and it is close to home.  The academics are great and playing at Alex Box Stadium, in front of all of those fans, is the best that you can get.

We all have people that help us along our journey.  Is there anyone that you'd like to thank for helping you get to where you are today?

I would like to thank all of my coaches who have helped me along the way.  Most importantly, my parents and family that have made several sacrifices for me.  I am truly blessed for that.  All of the time that my dad has put into practicing with me; I am truly thankful for that and I wouldn't be here without him.

The recruiting process for you has come to an end, right before your sophomore year.  Any advice for the next wave of prospects that are about to start the process?

For the wave of new prospects, just work hard and perform in front of the right people.

What can high school baseball fans expect out of Rummel this spring?

High school fans can expect us to make a run for a state title.  We are a very good team this year with a great group of guys.  We look forward to playing as a team and competing to win it all!
