Diamond Notes: 2/26 - 3/4

The 2018 high school season is well underway, as teams head into their third week of play. Earlier today, 2018 3B/RHP Hunter Tabb (Acadiana HS, LA) was named the Player of the Week for February 26th – March 4th. This week’s decision was a tough one, as there were several worthy nominees for the honor. We take a look at the other nominations sent in by coaches around the state in this week’s Diamond Notes.

+ Panola JC recruit, 2018 C/OF is Chris Collet (Holy Cross HS, LA) went 7-for-16 on the week with 10 RBI, 2 home runs, 7 runs scored, 2 double, and 1 triple. To this point in the season he’s hitting .483 with a .571 OBP, 1.571 OPS, 2 HR, 15 RBI, and has scored 13 runs.

+ OF Johnathan Walker (Northside Christian HS, LA) finished the week hitting .417 with 2 doubles, 2 RBI, 3 runs scored, and a .500 on-base percentage.

+ 2019 SS Seth Kerstetter (Ascension Episcopal HS, LA) finished the week 7-for-12 with 2 triples, 5 RBI, 3 runs scored, and 4 stolen bases.

+ Panola JC recruit, 2018 2B Mateo Beltran (Acadiana HS, LA) went 8-for-16 on the week with 8 RBI, 1 HR, and 2 doubles. 

+ 2019 C Beau Kirsch (Acadiana HS, LA) went 7-for-13 on the week with 4 RBI. 

+ 2018 OF Travis Dowden (Central(BR) HS, LA) finished the week hitting .750 with 3 homeruns and 7 RBI.

+ Southeastern Louisiana recruit, 2018 OF/LHP Brant Husser (Central(BR) HS, LA) finished the week hitting .353 with 9 RBI and 7 runs scored. He also tossed a no-hitter, striking out 13 against Newman, as well as hitting a walk-off homerun in the game.

+ 2018 RHP Conner Brunet (South Terrebonne HS, LA) pitched 6 innings in a win, giving up one earned run on five hits, while striking out five, and walking one. 

+ 2020 RHP Cole Cressend (Mandeville HS, LA) tossed a complete game, two-hit shutout as he picked up his first career win, striking out four in a 5-0 victory.

+ 2019 OF Britton Mulhern (Ouachita Christian HS, LA) went 8-for-15 on the week with 2 doubles, 3 RBI, and 2 stolen bases.
