Yesterday, 2018 1B/RHP Elijiah Lavan (Kinder HS, LA) was named the Player of the Week for March 4th – March 11th. This week’s decision was a tough one, as there were several worthy nominees for the honor. We take a look at the other nominations sent in by coaches around the state in this week’s Diamond Notes.

+ 2019 OF/RHP Nick Lorio (St. Charles Catholic HS, LA) went 6-for-11 this week with 2 doubles, 4 RBI, 6 runs scored, and 2 stolen bases. On the mound, he struck out 12 in 6 innings of work, allowing only 4 hits, and walking 1. 

+ RHP Stone Rasbury (Castor HS, LA) struck out 9 in 5 innings of work, allowing only 4 hits. He also hit .600 on the week with 1 RBI, 2 runs scored, and 3 stolen bases. 

+ 2020 LHP Keegan Foreman (Northside Christian HS, LA) went 6-for-14 this week with 2 doubles, 3 runs scored, and a .500 OBP. On the mound, he allowed only 1 ER, on 2 hits in 8 innings of work, striking out 9.  

+ 2019 Dustin Hernandez (Northside Christian HS, LA) finished the week with a .667 OBP, was 8-for-8 in stolen base attempts (11-for-11 on the season), and scored 7 runs.

+ 2019 Jake Laws (Mandeville HS, LA) went 8-for-13 with 6 RBI, 1 HR this week, and is hitting .412 on the season. On the mound, he picked up another win, moving to 2-1 on season with 15 IP, 16K, and a 3.26 ERA.

+ 2019 SS Nate Reeves (Reeves HS, LA) went 7-for-9 last week, with 8 RBI, 3 runs scored, 1 double, and 1 triple.

+ 2019 LHP Mitchell Hukins (Bunkie HS, LA) Marksville struck out 17 of the 26 batters he faced in 7 innings of work against Marksville, while walking none. Offensively, he added two hits, including a double and an RBI.

+ Christian Gonzalez (Breaux Bridge HS, LA) went 6-for-13 with 3 doubles, 5 RBI, 3 runs scored, 1.434 OPS, .889 SLG, and a .545 OBP for the week.

+ 2018 C Julian Leon (Breaux Bridge HS, LA) went 6-for-11 with 2 doubles, 8 RBI, .818 OBP, 1.000, and had an 1.818 OPS for the week.

+ Cole Mouton (Breaux Bridge HS, LA) went 5-for-14 with 1 double, 3 RBI, 7 runs scored, .500 OBP, and had an 1.000 OPS for the week. On the mound, he allowed 0 ER and struck out 9 in 7 innings of work.
