LA State Games - Infielder Analysis

On September 25th the PBR Louisiana Staff traveled to Tulane University to host the Louisiana State Games. The event featured more than 80 of the top 2023-2026 prospects from around the state and provided our staff an ample look at every player in attendance.

We continue the analysis from the event with a look at all of the Infielders in attendance. We broke down the top-five Infielders on the day followed by the rest of the Infielders in attendance.

1. Nicolas Schwing, Mandeville (LA), 2023
Positional Profile: MIF
Body: Athletic and lean
Hit: Starts in an upright, balanced stance with hands held at shoulder height, uses a simple load and stride to get to center. Delivers the bat head with a direct and on-line path to contact and slightly uphill extension finishing with one hand. Uses his hands a lot in the swing, stays in the middle of the field in his approach. Collected a nice opposite field triple during gameplay.
Arm: RH. INF- 87 mph. Short and quick with a ¾ release
Defense: Plays with a lot of confidence on the infield, receives the ball clean and out front before funneling with soft hands, plays through balls well and can play with one hand, throws from multiple arm angles and can throw on the run with accuracy.
2.Joshua Lim, Dunham (LA), 2025
Positional Profile: SS/RHP One of the top uncommitted MIF's in the state's 2025 class
Body: 5-5, 118-pounds.
Hit: Right- Starts in a wider and balanced stance with hands held above shoulder height, uses simple load and stride to get to center. Flat path to contact with level extension working gap to gap. Left- Starts in a wider and balanced stance with hands held above shoulder height, uses a modified leg kick load and stride. Slightly uphill path with extension to match, works gap to gap. Smoked an opposite field double in gameplay.
Power: 91 max exit velocity, averaged 81.3 mph. 334’ max distance.
Arm: RH. INF - 82.00 mph. Longer arm swing, releases from a high 3/4 slot
Defense: Athletic footowork, receives the ball with soft hands, works through the ball.
Run: 6.76 runner in the 60.
3. Alex Dupuy, Natchitoches Central (LA), 2023 LSU-Eunice JC
Positional Profile: SS/RHP
Body: 6-0, 175-pounds.
Hit: Starts in an upright, balanced, and athletic stance with hands held above shoulder height, uses a modified leg kick load and stride. Direct path to contact with uphill extension, worked gap to gap during BP showing increased strength and physicality.
Power: 92 max exit velocity, averaged 84.5 mph. 321’ max distance.
Arm: RH. INF - 87.00 mph. Short and quick, releases from a 3/4 to low 3/4 slot. One of the strongest arms on the day.
Defense: Confident defender with smooth actions, plays low to the ground, receives the ball clean and outfront before funneling, moved well laterally and on bounder play showing a quick release when he needed to.
Run: 6.98 runner in the 60..
4. JC Vanek, Barbe (LA), 2023
Positional Profile: 1B/LHP One of the top uncommitted 2023's in the state
Body: 6-3, 190-pounds.
Hit: Starts in an open and balanced stance, hands held at just above shoulder height with good rhythm, uses a simple load and stride to get to center. Gets on-plane early and finishes high, uphill through the baseball. Squared up the ball well during BP to all fields and took good AB's during gameplay, collected an opposite field double in last AB.
Power: 94 max exit velocity, averaged 86.4 mph. 361’ max distance.
Arm: LH. INF - 86.00 mph. Short and quick, releases from a high 3/4 slot
Defense: Moved well around the 1B bag, also played some corner OF and showed the ability to get good reads and jumps off the bat, could play a corner OF spot at next level.
Run: 7.19 runner in the 60.
5. Howard Dobson III, Catholic (LA), 2024
Positional Profile: 3B/RHP Former Future Gamer and recent Houston commit
Body: 6-1, 198-pounds.
Hit: Starts in a balanced and athletic stance with his hands right at shoulder height, using a simple load and stride. Gets on plane quickly by rotating his lower half to contact and finishing slightly uphill, stayed gap to gap during BP, in his first AB during gameplay he blistered a line drive right at the second baseman.
Power: 93 max exit velocity, averaged 83.3 mph. 331’ max distance.
Arm: RH. INF - 84.00 mph. Short and quick with a 3/4 to low 3/4 release
Defense: Receives the ball with soft hands and plays through everything with athletic footwork, can throw from different arm angles, and can play multiple positions on the field
Run: 7.19 runner in the 60.

Trent Anderson, West Monroe (LA), 2023 Baton Rouge CC
Positional Profile: SS/2B Recent Baton Rouge CC commit
Body: 5-10, 150-pounds.
Hit: Starts in an athletic and balanced stance, uses a simple load and stride to get to center. Short and compact path to contact with level extension. Worked up the middle hard on a line during BP.
Power: 85 max exit velocity, averaged 75.6 mph. 287’ max distance.
Arm: RH. INF - 79.00 mph. Short and quick arm action, releases from a 3/4 slot
Defense: Good first step off the bat allows him to play above his speed. Good instincts, soft hands. Made a couple of really nice plays during gameplay.
Run: 7.04 runner in the 60.
Jackson Beddoe, Sulphur (LA), 2025
Positional Profile: SS/OF
Body: 5-9, 155-pounds.
Hit: Starts in a wider, athletic, and balanced stance with hands held high, draws hands back as he uses a leg kick load and stride. Direct path to contact, gets on top of the ball with a strong top hand and finish level with two hands, took some aggressive but controlled hacks during BP and showed a knack for finding the barrel.
Power: 89 max exit velocity, averaged 72.3 mph. 268’ max distance.
Arm: RH. INF - 85.00 mph. Short and quick, high 3/4 release
Defense: Plays low to the ground, receives the ball with soft hands out front before funneling to his right ear, throws had good carry across the diamond and he moved well laterally.
Run: 7.04 runner in the 60.
Eli Booth, Brother Martin (LA), 2023
Positional Profile: OF/1B
Body: 5-11, 190-pounds.
Hit: Starts in a balanced, athletic and squared off stance with hands held at shoulder height, uses a simple load and stride to get to center Showed present bat speed during BP, compact and short path to contact with a level two-handed finish, showed some present power to the pull-side gap.
Power: 97 max exit velocity, averaged 86.7 mph. 355’ max distance.
Arm: LH. INF - 80.00 mph. OF - 83.00 mph. Short and quick with a high 3/4 release
Defense: Moved really well around 1B bag, especially for a physical frame, and also got good jumps and reads off the bat in the OF, profiles as possible corner OF.
Run: 7.09 runner in the 60.
Lawson Bourgeois, St. Amant (LA), 2024
Positional Profile: 3B/RHP
Body: 6-1, 190-pounds.
Hit: Starts in a wide and balanced stance, uses a small toe-tap load and stride to get to center. Flat path to contact with level extension, some length to the swing at times, worked primarily to the pull-side during BP.
Power: 90 max exit velocity, averaged 82.6 mph. 337’ max distance.
Arm: RH. INF - 86.00 mph. Short and quick, releases from over the top
Defense: Received the ball clean and out front, moved well for his size and projects as a corner INF.
Run: 7.51 runner in the 60.
Canyon Compton, Winnfield Senior (LA), 2024
Positional Profile: 3B/1B
Body: 5-11, 178-pounds.
Hit: Starts in a balanced and upright stance, using a modified leg kick load and stride. Works slightly uphill to the ball with an uphill two-handed finish, accurate with the barrel, made consistent hard contact from gap to gap.
Power: 94 max exit velocity, averaged 88.8 mph. 310’ max distance.
Arm: RH. INF - 78.00 mph. Short arm action, 3/4 release
Defense: Received the ball clean and out front with soft hands, average actions and footwork on the INF, moved ok to left and right.
Run: 7.32 runner in the 60.
Walker Dauzat, Episcopal (LA), 2024
Positional Profile: SS/2B
Body: 5-8, 150-pounds.
Hit: Starts in a taller and upright stance with hands held at shoulder height, uses a modified leg kick load and stride Uses his hands a lot in his swing, direct path to contact with an uphill two-handed finish, stayed mostly to the middle of the field during BP
Power: 85 max exit velocity, averaged 76.2 mph. 285’ max distance.
Arm: RH. INF - 81.00 mph. Short and quick arm action, low 3/4-3/4 release
Defense: Athletic footwork, caught the ball clean, threw from multiple arm angles.

Colton Gregg, Barbe (LA), 2026
Positional Profile: SS/3B
Body: 5-8, 140-pounds.
Hit: Starts in an upright, balanced, and athletic stance with hands held just above shoulder height, uses a toe-tap load and stride Gets on-plane to contact and finishes high with uphill extension through the ball and a one-handed finish, worked gap to gap during BP and showed improved strength since our last look.
Power: 79 max exit velocity, averaged 71.8 mph. 279’ max distance.
Arm: RH. INF - 74.00 mph. Short arm action, releases from a low 3/4 slot
Defense: Confident defender, plays with a lot of bounce and energy, receives the ball with soft hands, gets good jumps off the bat, made a highlight reel play during gameplay sliding up the middle on a forehand play.

Cody Kropp, Brother Martin (LA), 2025
Positional Profile: 2B/OF
Body: 5-10, 145-pounds.
Hit: Starts in a wide, squared off and athletic stance with hands held above shoulder height. Simple load and stride. Stays in back leg well and remains balanced throughout his swing. Short and flat path to contact with level extension.
Power: 85 max exit velocity, averaged 80.3 mph. 285’ max distance.
Arm: RH. INF - 76.00 mph. Short and quick arm action, releases from a 3/4 slot
Defense: Showed soft hands receiving the ball, presented glove early and out front, positioned body well with athletic footwork.

Brock Laird, Natchitoches Central (LA), 2025
Positional Profile: SS/2B
Body: 5-9, 155-pounds.
Hit: Starts in a slightly open, balanced stance with hihs hands held high, uses a simple load and stride to get to center. Steep path to contact with a slightly uphill two-handed finish, drives his back knee through the ground as he rotates, front side collapsed on a couple of swings.
Power: 92 max exit velocity, averaged 88.6 mph. 307’ max distance.
Arm: RH. INF - 79.00 mph. Short and quick with a low 3/4 release
Defense: Good prep step allows him to get good reads and jumps off the bat, plays low to the ground, fields the ball with soft hands as he funnels, moved well to both left and right

Jordan Luna, Opelousas Catholic (LA), 2024
Positional Profile: SS/RHP
Body: 6-0, 185-pounds.
Hit: Starts in a slightly open, balanced, and athletic stance with hands held at shoulder height, hovers with his front foot before landing. Works on plane to contact and finishes slightly uphill with two hands, repeated his swing well and showed the ability to work from gap to gap with consistent hard contact.

Anson Mo-Billiot, Patrick F. Taylor Science and Technology (LA), 2023
Positional Profile: 2B/OF
Body: 5-10, 150-pounds.
Hit: Starts in an upright, balanced stance with hands held higher, uses a toe-tap load and stride Slightly steeper path to contact with an uphill two-handed finish, came out of lower half at times, stayed gap to gap in his approach during BP

Defense: Caught the ball clean and out front with average actions and footowork, moved OK to left and right and on bounder play

Ryder Molea, St. Amant (LA), 2024
Positional Profile: SS/RHP
Body: 6-0, 165-pounds.
Hit: Starts in a taller and open stance with the bat head cocked toward the pitcher, uses a leg kick load and stride to get to center. Direct path with some length at times to contact and uphill extension, swung the bat with some intent during BP working mostly middle to pull-side.
Power: 90 max exit velocity, averaged 79.7 mph. 327’ max distance.
Arm: RH. INF - 81.00 mph. Short arm action, releases from a higher 3/4 slot
Defense: Starts low and stays low, received the ball clean and out front, showed a quick transfer especially on balls to left and right, played through ball well on bounder play too.

Gavin Nix, Archbishop Rummel (LA), 2025
Positional Profile: 2B/SS
Body: 5-9, 165-pounds.
Hit: Slightly open and taller stance, uses a simple load and stride. Creates good torque by aggressively rotating his lower half to the contact. Stays on-plane to contact with slightly uphill extension. Worked gap to gap in BP.
Power: 91 max exit velocity, averaged 85.8 mph. 313’ max distance.
Arm: LH. INF - 79.00 mph. Short and quick arm action, releases from a lower 3/4 slot.
Defense: Showed improved footowork on defense, caught the ball with soft hands and moved well to his left and right.

Hit: Starts slightly open in a taller and upright stance, uses a simple load and stride to get to center Gets on-plane early, a little length to the swing at times, uphill path through the baseball, worked mostly to the pull-side in BP.

Power: 75 max exit velocity, averaged 66.5 mph. 261’ max distance.
Arm: RH. INF - 78.00 mph. OF - 84.00 mph. Long and loose with an over the top release.
Defense: Confident on defense, caught the ball out front cleanly and moved athletically through the ball.

Drake Parker, Riverfield Academy (LA), 2025
Positional Profile: RHP/SS
Body: 5-9, 155-pounds.
Hit: Starts in a slightly open, upright stance, uses a simple load and stride to get to center. Showed a flat path to contact with an uphill two-handed finish, came out of lower half at times, worked mostly to middle of field during BP.
Power: 85 max exit velocity, averaged 74.8 mph. 280’ max distance.
Arm: RH. INF - 78.00 mph. Short arm action low 3/4 release
Defense: Plays low to the ground, shuffles and slides to position body, moved ok to left and right and on bounder play.

Dominic Pellegrin, Holy Cross (LA), 2026
Positional Profile: SS/2B Recent Tulane commit
Body: 5-9, 130-pounds.
Hit: Starts in a balanced and athletic stance that is slightly wider with hands held high and barrel cocked toward the pitcher. Uses a modified leg kick load and stride Direct and slightly steeper path to contact with level extension. Created solid contact on a line or on the ground hard. Doesn't get cheated.
Power: 85 max exit velocity, averaged 76.7 mph. 272’ max distance.
Arm: RH. INF - 77.00 mph. Short and quick arm action, releases from a 3/4 slot

Hit: Starts in a tall and upright stance with hands held above back shoulder, uses a simple load and stride and pulls his hands back as he strides. Flat and on-plane path to contact with slightly uphill extension.
Power: 76 max exit velocity, averaged 68.8 mph. 230’ max distance.
Arm: RH. INF - 74.00 mph. Long and loose arm action, releases from a lower 3/4 slot.
Defense: 3B profile. Long strides, under control, received the ball with soft hands.

Positional Profile: 2B/OF
Body: 5-10, 160-pounds.
Hit: Starts in a tall and upright stance with hands held above shoulder height, uses a leg kick load and stride Loose hands and good barrel whip, direct path to contact with uphill extension, worked mostly to the pull-side, collected a couple of hits during gameplay as well.
Power: 88 max exit velocity, averaged 81.9 mph. 303’ max distance.

Defense: Showed athletic actions on the infield, moved ok to left and right, likely profiles as a 2B. Attacked the ball under control in the OF, played through everything athletically.

Positional Profile: SS/2B
Body: 5-10, 150-pounds.
Hit: Athletic and balanced stance with hands held below shoulder height with the bat laid back slightly. Uses a toe-tap load and stride. Works flat to contact with level extension and one-handed finish. Stayed up the middle and to the opposite field gap.
Power: 87 max exit velocity, averaged 80.2 mph. 276’ max distance.
Arm: RH. INF - 84.00 mph. Average arm circle, releases from a high 3/4 slot
Defense: Plays a little wider on the dirt, athletic footowork, showed soft hands.

Body: 5-10, 155-pounds.
Hit: Starts in a balanced and athletic squared off stance, uses a leg kick load and stride, draws hands back as he strides with front foot. Creates good barrel whip through the zone with a flat path to contact and slightly uphill extension. Collected a hit during gameplay.
Power: 85 max exit velocity, averaged 74.1 mph. 246’ max distance.
Arm: RH. INF - 87.00 mph. Quick arm, releases from a high 3/4 slot. One of the stronger arms on the day.
Defense: Slides and shuffles to receive the ball with soft hands.

John Parker Trahan, Opelousas Catholic (LA), 2026
Positional Profile: SS/3B
Body: 5-8, 170-pounds.
Hit: Starts in a slightly open, tall and upright stance, uses a leg kick load and stride to get to center. Works uphill to the ball with a one-handed uphill finish, gains ground forward and comes out of legs at times, showed some bat speed and worked gap to gap during BP.
Power: 88 max exit velocity, averaged 76.1 mph. 310’ max distance.
Arm: RH. INF - 66.00 mph. Short arm action, 3/4 release
Defense: Showed soft hands and athletic footowork on the infield with average action, moved ok to his left and right and bounder play.

Austin Viola, Live Oak (LA), 2024
Positional Profile: SS/2B
Body: 5-9, 170-pounds.
Hit: Starts in a balanced, athletic stance with hands held above shoulder height, no-stride load. Works with a steeper path to contact and an uphill on-handed finish, stayed balanced throughout swing working mostly middle to opposite field gap.
Power: 78 max exit velocity, averaged 64 mph. 242’ max distance.
Arm: RH. INF - 65.00 mph. Short arm action with a 3/4 release
Defense: Took a good prep step, starts low and stays low, receives the ball with soft hands, moved ok laterally
Run: 7.84 runner in the 60.
Cade Wilkerson, St. Thomas More (LA), 2025
Positional Profile: SS/OF One of the top uncommitted players in the 2025 class in Louisiana
Body: 5-11, 170-pounds.
Hit: Starts in an open and athletic stance with some weight pre-loaded into his backside, uses a simple load and stride, draws hands back as he loads with the bat head titled up Direct and slightly steep path to contact with uphill extension, worked mostly to the pull-side gap during BP and showed increased strength.
Power: 93 max exit velocity, averaged 87.3 mph. 339’ max distance.
Arm: LH. INF - 71.00 mph. Short arm action, releases from a high 3/4 slot
Defense: Athletic mover on the dirt, plays with some moxie, sets himself up to catch the good hop, moves well laterally and on bounder play.
Run: 7.2 runner in the 60.
Stan Wiltz, Brother Martin (LA), 2025
Positional Profile: 2B/SS
Body: 5-9, 155-pounds.
Hit: Starts in a wider and spread out base, hands held at shoulder height, uses a simple load and stride and gets front foot down early as he stretches his upper half back. Uses his lower half to create a tight turn and on-plane path to contact, finishes uphill with two hands, took aggressive hacks during BP and maintained balance from start to finish.
Power: 84 max exit velocity, averaged 80 mph. 308’ max distance.
Arm: RH. INF - 83.00 mph. Short and quick with a 3/4 release
Defense: Plays with a lot of bounce, starts low and stays low, presents the glove early and receives it out front with soft hands, moved well to left and right and showed a quick release when he had to.
