With the start of the Spring season upon us, and the recent release of the updated class of 2016 rankings, Prep Baseball Report Louisiana is excited to release the updated class of 2017 rankings. This edition of the rankings has been expanded to include 65 prospects from across the state. There are several new faces to the rankings and a few players made significant jumps.

+ The top three spots remain unchanged with Louisiana State commits, Daniel Cabrera and Blayne Enlow, as well as Mississippi State commit, Jacob Pearson, retaining their No. 1, 2, and 3 slots respectively.

+ The only movement in the top ten came as RHP Ma’Khail Hilliard climbed to No. 4, as his stock continues in an upward trend.

+ Lafayette RHP/SS Bo Hardin, climbs all the way to No. 16 after a very impressive showing at the Winter Prospect Showcase. A legitimate two-way college prospect, Hardin has a clean, loose arm action and a fastball that sits 85-87 mph.

+ St. Michael’s INF Nolan Tiersch enters the rankings for the first time at No. 25, as he and Mandeville catcher, Fritz Walker, who also made a significant jump to No. 28, were impressive at the Winter Prospect Showcase. Both are physical athletes that run well and have loads of bat speed.

+ Another Winter Prospect Showcase standout enters the rankings in Breaux Bridge catcher, Tyler Thibodeaux (No. 30). Thibodeaux showed advanced catch and throw skills, and has seen recruiting interest rise significantly in recent weeks.

+ Ryan Zimmerman, a left-handed power hitter from Fontainebleau HS  and Griffith Olinde, a right-handed power hitter, check in at No’s. 34 and 35 respectively, as both have shown an advanced ability to hit of late.

+ Other players to enter the rankings for the first time are: Ethan Campo, Ivan Prejean, Cameron Crawford, Cole Nalesnik, Ross Scelfo, Joel Bergeron, David Vial, Ryan Cupit, Nick Chifici, Bryce Musso, and Ty O’Neal.
