PBR Louisiana Junior Future Games Recap

Alex Armand
Louisiana Scouting Director

The 2022 Junior Future Games has come to an end and it was yet again, a fantastic event for the boys from the boot.  Their week began on Tuesday July 26, 2022 with a pro-style workout, where all players ran the 60 yard dash, took batting practice, participated in defensive work, and tested their explosiveness and jumping ability via the Swift Performance jump mat.  On Wednesday July 27, 2022, the team began pool play and went 3-0, winning the pool, over the likes of Alabama, Illinois, and Colorado.  Bracket play began on Saturday July 30, 2022 and the Louisiana boys were the #1 overall seed, but unfortunately fell to a very good Michigan team, by a score of 7-5 in extra innings.  All in all, it was another successful week for our Junior Future Games team.  Below we take a look at some of the top performers from each game and highlight a five guys who really stood out over the course of the event.

TOP PERFORMERS

-2026 INF/RHP Myles Ledoux (Barbe HS):  To say Ledoux was "hot" during the Junior Future Games would be a massive understatement.  The Barbe HS product was stellar both at the plate and on the mound for Louisiana.  Ledoux came in relief during Game 1 against Alabama and turned in a really nice outing with a stat line of 3 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 0 BB, and 3 K's.  He worked his FB up to 84 mph, while mixing in a bigger "11-5" shaped breaking ball.  Offensively, he was seeing the ball extremely well and seemed to hit everything hard that he saw.  He finished the week going 7-9 with a 3B, 6 R, and 8 RBI.

-2026 OF/RHP John David Alexander (Barbe HS):  The 6'2" 175 lbs. two-way prospect announced his presence at the Junior Future Games on the workout day by taking one of the louder BP rounds of the day, recording a max exit velocity 95 mph, and it carried over to gameplay during the week.  Alexander finished the week going 4-9 with a 3B, 8 R, and 2 RBI.  On the mound, he didn't have his "A +" stuff, as he was coming off of a minor injury, but still put together a quality start in Game 1 of pool play vs. Alabama, finishing with a stat line of 2 IP, 1 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 2 BB, and 1 K.  He worked his FB in the 82-85 mph range, while mixing in a sharp and tight SL, as well as a solid CH with late fade.

-2026 C/OF Hudson Browning (East Ascension HS):  The East Ascension HS product took a really good BP round on the opening day, making consistent hard contact with a max exit velocity of 90 mph.  Browning seemed to square up everything during gameplay and finished the week going 3-11 with a 2B, 3B, HR, 2 R, and 7 RBI.  His biggest hit of the week came in Game 3 of pool play against Colorado, where he went down to get a FB and launched it over the LF fence for a Grand Slam.  Defensively, a primary catcher, Browning also showed the ability to track the ball down in the outfield as well, offering positional versatility heading into his freshman high school season.

-2026 SS William Power (Teurlings Catholic HS):  Defense has always come first with the switch hitting Power, and that was no different at the Junior Future Games last week.  His size and speed will not blow anyone away, but he plays bigger on the field and is more than the sum of his parts.  Power manned the SS position all week and did a solid job of playing the position, showing soft hands, good footwork, and a high baseball IQ.  At the plate, he also had a nice week, as he finished going 3-7 with 2 R, 2 RBI, and 2 BB.

-2026 RHP Logan Sorrel (Dunham HS):  Long, lean, and projectable 6'2" 170 lbs. frame with plenty of room to add strength.  Sorrel got the ball in Game 2 of pool play against a solid Illinois squad.  He didn't have his best stuff, but competed his tail off to turn in a really good outing with a stat line of 4 IP, 4 H, 2 R, 2 ER, 2 BB, and 7 K's.  The Dunham HS product worked his FB up to 83 mph with some slight cutting action, while mixing in a developing SL.  The arm is loose and whippy, so we expect velocity jumps as he continues to mature, which will sharpen up his secondary offerings as well.
