Trey Sofio
Louisiana Scouting Director

The Pitcher Showcase and Analysis is coming January 7th to The Kastle in Mandeville, LA. This event will bring several arms from around the state of Louisiana together for extended bullpen sessions, as well as instruction, and a recruiting/scouting talk. As we lead up to the event, just a few days away, we will continue to preview several of the top players scheduled to be in attendance.

Jacob Hammond

Current ranked No. 18 in Louisiana’s 2018 class. Large 6-foot-3, 230-pound frame,  thick lower half, physically imposing. Significantly improved his stock heading into his rising junior summer. Right-handed pitcher with long arm action into high-3/4 release with quick arm speed and regular effort. Smooth rhythm, level shoulders, in-line direction, lands square and finishes athletic. Fastball sits 85-88 mph with heavy sink and quality angle. Breaking ball shows 11/5 shape with sharp break, fastball arm speed, tight spin and deception at 73-76 mph. Also shows decent feel for changeup with fastball arm speed and fade action at 78-81 mph.
