With the third installment of Prep Baseball Report Louisiana’s Power 25, we see a brand new number one. Sulphur HS is the lone unbeaten team in the state at 18-0 heading into Tuesday’s matchup with perennial powerhouse, and number 10 in the current Power 25, Barbe HS. Led by left-handed pitcher, and No. 3 in the 2015 class, Kale Breaux Sulphur HS looks to continue its winning ways.

Another top rising team that cracked the top ten are Catholic HS Baton Rouge coming in at number 3 after an impressive 18-2 start. Led on the mound by 2015 LHP and Tulane signee Ross Massey, as well as 2016 SS and LSU commit Josh Smith. Catholic (BR) HS is a balanced club that has a few upperclassmen remaining off a state championship team from 2013.

Coming in at number 9 is a very interesting Lafayette HS club. Lafayette has gotten out to an impressive 12-4 start and have big firepower in their lineup. 2015 OF, ranked No. 7 in his class, and LSU signee Antoine Duplantis is an igniter at the top of any lineup. His game changing speed added to the power potential of 2017 INF Miguel Reyes and 2016 left-handed hitting Branson Audette, No.’s 13 and 8 in their respective classes, makes for an extremely potent high school lineup.

Finally, it looks as though Brother Martin HS has stabilized what was a tough start to their season. Now at 12-6 the Crusaders battled through some injuries early and look to be almost at full strength now, and have slide into the number 11 slot. The Crusaders could make some noise this year with a one-two punch of 2016 pitchers Blair Frederick and Keagan Gillies. Both possess above average breaking balls and Frederick has already touched 92 mph early in the spring.

Prep Baseball Report Louisiana will be hosting its first event on May 25th at St. Thomas Aquinas HS in Hammond, LA. The Underclass Trials is an open event for 2017 and 2018 graduates and will be an identifier for the Top Prospects games, which is an invite only event, as well as the PBR Future Games Powered by Under Armour. The Future Games is the premier national scouting event for underclassmen with over 100 college coaches in attendance last year.
