Power 25 Rankings Updated

The 2017 high school season is well underway, and teams around the state are heading into district play. Today, Prep Baseball Report Louisiana has updated its Power 25 team rankings, and will do so on a weekly basis for the remainder of the 2017 season.
+ Barbe holds steady at the No. 1 overall spot, as they have jumped out to a 20-3 start. The three-time defending class 5A state champions are outscoring opponents at an eye opening, 186 to 25. In addition, McNeese State recruit, 2017 LHP Adam Goree, who has been a mainstay in the Barbe rotation since his freshmen season, is set to come back soon, after being sidelined with minor arm soreness.
+ West Monroe remains at No. 2 as the Rebels have jumped out to a 17-2 start. A relentless offensive juggernaut, West Monroe is averaging 9 runs a game this season, with firepower up and down the lineup. The Rebels have division-1 caliber position players up and down their lineup, led by Louisiana State recruit, 2017 OF Jacob Pearson, who is one of the best left-handed hitters in the country.
+ John Curtis remains at No. 3, and is one of the hottest teams in the state of Louisiana. Another offensive juggernaut, the Patriots 2018 class is loaded with high-level college prospects, and has evolved into a gauntlet of landmines to avoid. So far this season, 68 out of the Patriots 157 hits have been for extra bases. Tulane recruit, 2018 1B Cade Beloso is hitting close to .500 with 15 doubles, and has blasted four home runs. Beloso’s counterpart in the heart of the order, 2018 C Jay Curtis has driven in 30 runs already this year, and cranked four home runs himself. 2018 SS Brandon Davis has seen a metoric rise early this spring, as the projectable junior has been aggressive, and successful setting the table atop the Patriot lineup, alongside his middle infield counterpart 2018 Jordin LaBruzza.
It’s an exciting time of year if you are a Louisiana high school baseball fan, as district rivalry matchups are cranking up around the state. As well, the summer is fast approaching and space is already filling fast for PBR-Louisiana summer events. On May 20, the Underclass Trials will take place in Hammond, LA for 2019 and 2020 graduates. This event will serve as an identifier for the prestigious invite only PBR Future Games, as well as, the invite only Underclass Games at Tulane University.
