Prospect ID Showcase: Quick Hits Part Two

On Monday, Sept. 7, more than 80 players from across the state of Louisiana in the 2016-2019 classes participated in the Prep Baseball Report Prospect ID Showcase at St. Thomas Acquinas HS in Hammond, LA.

As the PBR scouting staff is hard at work reviewing each player???s performance, writing scouting reports and uploading data into the vast player scouting database of PBR, we will look at a few quick hits on standout players from the event that made significant noise. Quick Hits

+ 2017 RHP/INF Mickey Toscano (Holy Cross HS) has a physical, athletic 6-foot-1, 175-pound frame. Toscano opened some eyes on Monday with a mid-80s fastball that touched 87 mph and flashed feel to spin the baseball. In addition, Toscano posted an 88 mph exit velocity, which is proof to the raw strength he possess.

+ Uncommitted 2016 RHP/INF Austin Lambertson (Fontainebleau HS) was another unsigned senior that really helped himself on Monday. He possess an athletic 6-foot-1, 175-pound frame and showed solid athleticism running a 7.03 60 yard dash, as well as posting an 81 mph positional velocity, and an 87 mph exit velocity. On the mound he showed a clean, loose arm action that ran a fastball up to 86 mph, and flashed quality secondary stuff.

+ Future Games participant, 2018 INF Jordin LaBruzza (Brother Martin HS) continued to build on the success he had at the national event in the early part of August. The 5-foot-9 infielder showed advanced actions with a quick transfer and advanced feel for infield play. As well, the right-handed hitter shows an advanced feel to hit with a loose barrel that stays in the hitting zone a long time and shows solid bat speed that produced an 85 mph exit velocity.

+ Another unsigned 2016 graduate that helped his own cause at the Prospect ID Showcase was Bradley Yaeger (St. Paul???s HS). A 6-foot, 190-pound outfielder with a physical, athletic frame, Yaeger showed a quality array of tools for a 2016 that still remains on the open market. He posted a 7.01 60 yard dash, an 82 mph positional velocity, and had a very impressive round of batting practice, as well as posting a 91 mph exit velocity.

+ The Prospect ID Showcase attracted one out-of-state player, 2018 RHP/INF Will Ripoll (George Ranch(TX) HS). The athletic, 5-foot-11 right-hander showed an extremely quick arm with a fastball that sat 84-85 mph and flashed quality secondary stuff.
