On Tuesday, June 14, 38 prospects from across the state of Louisiana participated in the Prep Baseball Report Southwest Louisiana Open at Quality Sports Authority in Erath, LA.

Today, Prep Baseball Report Louisiana takes a look at the top overall prospects from the event.

Top Prospects

1. Cameron Wiley, RHP/OF, Berwick HS(2017)
A 6-foot-1, 155-pound right-handed pitcher and outfielder with a lean, athletic, projectable frame. Long, loose arm action into ¾ release with quick arm speed and regular effort. Smooth rhythm, level shoulders, in-line direction, and lands square. Fastball sat 84-86 mph with hard run. Breaking ball showed 11/5 shape, early break and near fastball arm speed at 72-73 mph. Also showed a changeup with near fastball arm speed and sink action at 70-73 mph. Quality defender with soft hands, fluid footwork and clean exchanges. Long arm action into high-3/4 release with accuracy and life on throws that produced a positional velocity of 91 mph. Right-handed hitter that hits from athletic setup, smooth load, short stride and quality lower and balance. Gap to gap type hitter with fluid rhythm, short path and bat speed that produced an exit velocity of 85 mph. Also posted a 4.17 home to 1st.

2. Chance Stone, INF, Sulphur HS(2018)
A 5-foot-11, 175-pound infielder with a strong, athletic frame. Left-handed hitter that hits from a balanced, athletic setup, smooth load, short stride, and explosive lower half. Line-drive, gap to gap type hitter with simple approach, exceptional rhythm, short, compact path, strength at contact and bat speed that produced an exit velocity of 87 mph. Quality defender with soft hands, fluid footwork, and quick, clean exchanges. Short arm action into high-3/4 release with accuracy and carry on throws that produced a positional velocity of 78 mph. Also posted a 4.15 home to 1st.

3. Scott Jones, INF, Sulphur HS(2018)
A 5-foot-9, 160-pound infielder with an athletic, strong frame. Right-handed hitter that hits from balanced, athletic setup, smooth load, short stride and explosive lower half. Line-drive, gap to gap type hitter with exceptional rhythm, short and level path, strength at contact and bat speed that produced an exit velocity of 87 mph. Quality defender with soft hands, fluid footwork, and clean exchanges. Short arm action into high-3/4 release with some accuracy and carry on throws that produced a positional velocity of 78 mph. Also posted a 4.1 home to 1st time.

4. Branon Pope, C/RHP, Acadiana HS(2018)
A 5-foot-7, 145-pound catcher, outfielder and right-handed pitcher with a medium, athletic frame. Outstanding defender with soft hands, fluid footwork, clean exchange and quality blocking ability. Short arm action into over the top release with accuracy and carry on throws that produced a positional velocity of 78 mph from catcher, 85 mph from outfield and a pop time of 1.93 seconds. Right-handed hitter that hits from a balanced setup, smooth load, short stride, and solid balance. Opposite field type hitter with slightly uphill path, fluid rhythm and bat speed that produced an exit velocity of 79 mph. Also posted a 4.15 home to 1st time. Right-handed pitcher with short arm action into over the top release, average arm speed and regular effort. Smooth rhythm, level shoulders, in-line direction and lands square. Fastball sat 80-82 mph touching 84 mph with command. Breaking ball showed 10/4 shape with gradual break and near fastball arm speed at 69-72 mph. Also showed a changeup with fastball arm speed and fade action at 73-74 mph.

5. Shamar Henry, OF, Central(BR) HS(2017)
A 5-foot-9, 160-pound outfielder with a lean, athletic frame. Fast-twitch athlete that posted a 4.1 home to 1st time. Solid defender with average hands, fluid footwork, and plays through athletically. Long arm action into high-3/4 release with some accuracy on throws that produced a positional velocity of 84 mph. Right-handed hitter that hits from balanced, athletic setup, smooth load, and short stride. Line-drive, gap to gap type hitter with fluid rhythm, short and level path, and bat speed that produced an exit velocity of 84 mph.

6. Charlie Gallusser, C, North Vermillion HS(2017)
A 5-foot-9, 170-pound catcher with a strong, athletic frame. Quality defender with soft hands, fluid footwork, clean exchanges, and fields athletically. Short arm action into high-3/4 release with accuracy and carry on throws that produced a positional velocity of 74 mph and a pop time of 2.00. Right-handed hitter that hits from balanced, athletic setup, smooth load, leg kick and explosive lower half. Gap to gap type hitter with fluid rhythm, level, slightly uphill path, strength at contact and bat speed that produced an exit velocity of 91 mph. Also posted a 4.21 home to 1st time.

7. Blake Hine, RHP, Sam Houston HS(2017)
A 6-foot-2, 190-pound right-hander pitcher with an athletic, strong frame. Long arm action into high-3/4 release with quick arm speed and regular effort. Smooth rhythm, level shoulders, in-line direction, lands square and finishes athletic. Fastball sat 82-83 mph touching 85 mph with hard run. Breaking ball showed 11/5 shape with early break and near fastball arm speed at 67-68 mph. Also showed a changeup with fastball arm speed and sink action at 68-70 mph.

8. Jonathan Levasseur, C, Menard HS(2017)
A 6-foot-1, 175-pound catcher with a strong, athletic frame. Solid defender with average hands, fluid footwork, and clean exchanges. Short arm action into high-3/4 release with accuracy on throws that produced a positional velocity of 76 mph and a pop time of 1.97. Right-handed hitter that hits from balanced, athletic setup, smooth load, and short stride. Line-drive, gap to gap type hitter with fluid rhythm, strength at contact and bat speed that produced an exit velocity of 87 mph. Also posted a 4.35 home to 1st.

9. Bryson Broussard, OF, Loreauville HS(2017)
A 5-foot-10, 185-pound outfielder with a strong, athletic frame. Quality defender with soft hands, fluid footwork, clean exchanges, and plays through balls athletically. Long arm action into high-3/4 release with accuracy and carry on throws producing a positional velocity of 83 mph. Left-handed hitter that hits from balanced, athletic setup, smooth load, short stride and quality lower half. Line-drive type hitter with fluid rhythm, short path and quality bat speed that produced an exit velocity of 83 mph. A quality athlete, also posted a 4.41 home to 1st time.

10. Mitchel Lemoine, 1B, Central Catholic HS(2017)
A 6-foot, 240-pound infielder with a large frame. Left-handed hitter that hits from balanced, athletic setup, smooth load and short stride. Line-drive, gap to gap type hitter with fluid rhythm, short, slightly uphill path, strength at contact and bat speed that produced an exit velocity of 86 mph. Solid defender with average hands, fluid footwork and clean exchanges. Long arm action into high-3/4 release with accuracy on throws that produced a positional velocity of 72 mph. Also posted a 4.68 home to 1st.
