Today, Prep Baseball Report Louisiana takes a look at three prospects that impressed during the winter event schedule, raising their stock in the recent days.

As the calendar has begun the transition from winter to spring, the 2018 spring season is upon us. Our scouting staff will be out all season long to scout and cover the high school season. Let’s dive into this week’s Stock Watch, featuring standouts from the Winter event schedule.

Dylan Beier LHP / Barbe, LA / 2019

Athletic 5-foot-10, 165-pound frame, lean build. Long arm action into high-3/4 release with lightning quick arm speed and normal effort. Clean, athletic delivery with fluid rhythm, level shoulders, in-line direction, lands square, and finishes ahletic. Fastball sat 85-87 mph, touching 88 mph with late life to the arm side and showed command. Breaking ball showed 2/8 shape with tight spin and quality depth at 71-73 mph. Also showed advanced feel for a changeup with fastball arm speed, deception, and late, hard fading action at 78-80 mph.

 

 

Collin Johnson RHP / 2B / Oak Forest Academy, LA / 2018

Lean 5-foot-10, 155-pound frame, athletic build. Short arm action into high-¾ release, with quick arm speed and regular effort. Delivery shows fluid rhythm with level shoulders, lands square, and finishes slightly off to first base side. Fastball sat 83-86 mph with late life to the arm side run, and feel for command in the zone. Breaking ball showed 10/4 shape with developing spin, and flashes occasional depth at 69-70 mph. Also showed a changeup showed with fastball arm speed and fading action at 74-75 mph.

 

 

Cole Stromboe OF / LHP / Brother Martin, LA / 2020

Athletic 5-foot-9, 160-pound frame with room to add strength. Quality athlete that posted a 7.04 60-yard dash. Left-handed hitter that hits from balanced, athletic setup, small leg lift load, short stride and solid balance. Line-drive type approach with slight arm bar, rotational path, and quality bat speed that produced an exit velocity of 91 mph. Quality defender with soft hands, fluid footwork, clean exchanges, and works through balls athletically. Short arm action into high-3/4 release with accuracy and carry on throws that produced a positional velocity of 84 mph.
