Top Prospect Games: Outfielder Analysis

On June 15, 2022 we hosted the Top Prospect Games at M.L. Tigue Moore Field, home of the University of Louisiana Ragin Cajuns. The invite-only event featured some of the state's top uncommitted prospects from all high school classes. The day started out started out with players running the 60 yard dash and participating in defensive work, followed by batting practice, and we ended with two separate games. We were fortunate to hold this year's Top Prospect Games during an open recruiting period, as there were several college recruiters on hand to take look at each prospect. Below, we take a look at the scouting reports from all infielders in attendance.

Body: 5-7, 160-pounds. Athletic with strong lower half
Hit: RHH. Balanced and athletic, uses a toe-tap load and stride Short and direct path to contact with level extension

Arm: RH. INF - 79 mph. Longer arm action, releases from an over the top slot
Defense: Athletic footwork, received the ball clean and out front

Positional Profile: OF/LHP A 2021 Junior Future Gamer
Body: 5-5, 125-pounds. Athletic
Hit: LHH. Athletic and balanced, gets front foot down early with weight loaded on back side. Flat path to contact with level extension working to the opposite field
Power: 74.7 max exit velocity, averaged 62.7 mph. 176’ max distance.
Arm: LH. INF - 70 mph. Full arm cirlce, releasing from a high 3/4 slot
Defense: Good jumps and reads in OF, caught every good hop clean and out front

Positional Profile: 1B/OF One of the best power bats in the state's 2024 calss
Body: 6-4, 220-pounds. Physical, imposing
Hit: RHH. Starts in a tall and balanced stance using a simple load and stride. Top hand is cocked and elbow gets into the slot quick, uses strong wrists and hands to "flick" the bat head to contact. Showed gap to gap power and the ability to drive the ball to the opposite field.
Power: 95.3 max exit velocity, averaged 90.3 mph. 362’ max distance.
Arm: RH. OF - 84 mph. Average arm circle, releases from over the top.
Defense: Moves well in the OF for a bigger frame and gets good jumps and reads off the bat. Made a couple of nice diving plays during gameplay.
Run: 6.99 runner in the 60.

Body: 5-10, 160-pounds. Athletic with lower half strength
Hit: RHH. Starts in a tall and squared off stance using a simple load and stride. Uses a lot of hands in his swing with a direct path to contact and slightly uphill extension.
Power: 82.3 max exit velocity, averaged 73.2 mph. 281’ max distance.
Arm: RH. OF - 86 mph. Short and quick, releases from a 3/4 slot
Defense: Profiles as a corner OF, athletic footwork.

Body: 5-9, 160-pounds. Athletic and wiry
Hit: LHH. Starts in a taller and squared off stance, shifts weight from front to back using a simple load and stride. Works inside the ball to contact with a level path finishing higher with uphill extension. Showed ability to hit the ball the other way, as well as some power to the pull-side gap.
