Top Uncommitted Underclassmen (Louisiana All-State Games)

Alex Armand
Louisiana Scouting Director

Today, we continue to provide post event coverage of the Louisiana All-State Games, with a closer look into the top uncommitted underclassmen.  The amount of talent in the 2023 and 2024 classes was amazing to see at the event, and our staff is super excited to see these young guys progress and grow throughout their high school careers.

2023 LHP Harrison Waghalter (Catholic BR HS)

Tall, lean, wiry frame with tons of room to add strength; Waghalter was impressive on the mound during the game portion of the Louisiana All-State Games.  The LHP showed late, tailing action away from RHH's on his FB that sat 79-80 mph, topping out at 81 mph.  Waghalter was also able to land an almost near "12-6" shaped CB that sat 64-66 mph, with good spin and depth.  Also showed a developing CH.  We are excited to watch Waghalter's progression as he continues to get stronger leading up to this spring.

2024 SS/RHP Kasen Bellard (Barbe HS)

Compact build with strength in his lower half; currently stands in at 5'11" 155 lbs.  The SS/RHP was a standout performer this past summer at the Jr. Future Games and he did not disappoint at the All-State Games.  Athletic stance with some weight pre-loaded in his back side, short stride, that produced a clean and professional round of BP, spraying line drives from gap to gap.  Soft hands, athletic footwork, and no wasted movement defensively.  Bellard's ability to play multiple positions should give him a good chance to take the field on a loaded Barbe team this spring.

2023 RHP/3B Jon Robert Tollett (Ruston HS)

Tall, developing frame at 6'2" 165 lbs.  Will continue to add strength as he matures; Tollett is currently ranked as the #10 RHP in the 2023 State Rankings.  Worked quick and pounded the zone with his FB that sat 81-82 mph, topping out at 83 mph, with a spin rate of almost 2,000 rpm.  "11-5" shaped CB sat 71-72 mph and was used as a "get me over" pitch.  Also flashed a true SL at 75-76 mph, that was his out pitch.

2023 C/RHP Zach Schoenborn (Parkway HS)

Schoenborn has been featured quite a bit in our post event coverage, as he had one of the most impressive days at the Louisiana All-State Games.  Physical, strong LHH catcher is currently the #4 C in the 2023 State Rankings.  Defensively, posted a 77 mph positional velocity and pop times from 1.92-2.05.  Offensively, hitting from a tall, slightly open stance; Schoenborn produced a 93 mph exit velocity and average exit speed of 88 mph.

2023 SS/RHP Alex Dupuy (Natchitoches Central HS)

Developing 5'9" 155 lbs. frame with plenty of room to add strength.  Hitting from a slightly tall, athletic set-up, uses a modified leg kick to get into the hitting position; Dupuy did a good job of staying inside baseball using the middle of the field.  Produced an 85 mph exit velocity.  Athletic infielder who showed good footwork, moving through the baseball that produced a positional velocity of 82 mph.
