Prep Baseball Report

We Give Thanks (2021 Class)

Alex Armand
Louisiana Scouting Director

Happy Thanksgiving from the Prep Baseball Report Family to yours!  2020 has definitely been a year we will all remember, especially for Louisiana.  The 2021 High School Class has endured a lot, with their junior year being cut short due to the pandemic and then, for a good portion of the state, players were left searching for places to workout after Hurricanes Laura and Delta came through.  Through all of this, however, we have all learned that Louisiana is tough, resilient, and willing to help others out in times of need.  We contacted a few players from the 2021 class and asked them, "As you prepare for your final high school season, who and/or what, are you most thankful and grateful for?"  Their individual responses are below.  Thank you to all that participated, as we are thankful for you guys and we can't wait to watch our great state get after it this spring!

2021 CF Joshua Stevenson (St. Thomas More HS)

"I would have to say my parents.  They have sacrificed so much for me since I was young.  They brought me to all of my tournaments and sacrificed all of their time for me.  My parents have put me in a position to be successful and I am truly grateful for them."

2021 SS/2B Connor Simon (St. Paul's HS)

"I'd say throughout my baseball career, I'm most thankful for my dad and all of my coaches.  My dad has always hit me groundballs and thrown BP to me since I was young.  He always pushed me to be my best.  As for my coaches, Ben Sheets especially, has taught me what I know about baseball.  He's taught me the mental part of the game and how to play the right way."

2021 SS/2B Gavin Schulz (Holy Cross HS)

"I'm most thankful for my family because they have always supported me in my deep passion for baseball and have always blessed me with the best possible opportunities to chase my goals.  To my family, I love and appreciate every one of you.  You are all irreplaceable!"

2021 OF/2B Josh Pearson (West Monroe HS)

"The things I'm most grateful for would be my parents, who sacrificed so much to get me where I need to be, and the lifelong friendships and relationships that I've created through all the years!"

2021 RHP Jack Walker (Barbe HS)

"I am most thankful for all of the opportunities that I have been given to be able to play the game that I love.  I am grateful to be apart of such a great high school program to help me get to where I am today."
