Scouting Report

3/08/24

6'3" 195 lbs. physical and durable frame. The state's top ranked right-handed pitcher got the start last Friday against Brother Martin and their talented lineup. Sorrel didn't have his best "stuff", but competed his tail off and showed why we're so high on him. In the first inning, he ended up walking four on 30 total pitches, but managed to come out of the first unscathed, as he allowed no runs. He gave up a leadoff single in the second inning, which would be the only hit that he allowed on the afternoon, as he proceeded to retire 16 of the next 17 Crusader hitters, and 12 of them were retired on ground outs. Sorrel sat 85-86 mph with his FB, which is down some from the last time that we saw him, and it seemed as if he was cutting his heater in this look. He went to his sharp, late-biting 73-77 mph SL early and late in counts, that tunnels well off of his FB. All in all, he grinded his way to earn the win, as he ended up throwing a complete-game one hit shutout with 5 BB and 2 K's, to lead Dunham to the big 2-0 win over Brother Martin.

1/27/24

6'3" 195 lbs. projectable and durable frame with present physicality. Sorrel got the start in the Saturday night cap and showed exactly why he's the top ranked right-handed pitcher in the state's 2026 class. The Dunham product worked through a controlled and repeatable delivery, and used a loose & easy arm stroke to release the ball from a high 3/4 slot with minimal effort. His FB was electric at 88-91 mph and his 73-77 mph CB flashed plus with tight spin and late top-to-bottom break. He finished his lone no-hit inning of work with 2 BB's and 3 K's. At this point, Sorrel looks like a "slam dunk" Power 5 arm, thanks to the ease of his operation, high floor, and even higher ceiling.
