Scouting Report
Physical and athletic 6'1" 180 lbs. frame. The LSU recruit has been a household name for quite some time and turned in an eye-opening performance last Wednesday against St. Frederick. Downs logged a three inning shutout relief appearance with 2 BB and 3 K's, and showed big-time arm talent, as he ran his FB up to 91 mph, sitting 87-90 mph with spin rates up to 2497 RPM's. His 72-76 mph CB had good shape and with some continued work and refinement, it has the chance to be a swing & miss offering in the future. Downs also took some good hacks at the plate and connected for an opposite field double, further proving why he's currently the top two-way prospect in the state's 2027 class.

Positional Profile: SS/RHP LSU commit and one of the top 2027's in the state
Body: 6-1, 175-pounds. Projectable, long, and lean
Delivery: Starts in the middle of the rubber and works to the 1B side of the rubber throughout a slower and controlled delivery, strides on-line and finishes square to his target
Arm Action: RH. Compact and clean arm path, releases the ball from a 3/4 slot
FB: 86 mph. Good life through the zone with some natural arm-side run T2454, 2324 average rpm.
CB: 80-85 mph. "11-5" with tight shape and break, can land for strikes T2492, 2430 average rpm.
SL: Two-plane break, equal parts of lateral break and depth, more of a swing & miss offering` T2484, 2438 average rpm.
CH: 72-73 mph. Sinks with late fade, keeps same arm stroke as FB T2088, 2047 average rpm.
KN: 73-74 mph.
ATH: 7.14 runner in the 60.

Body: 6-1, 175-pounds. Projectable, long, and lean
Hit: RHH. Starts in a slightly open and upright stance with hands held at shoulder height, uses a "hover" load and stride Swings with intent, gets on-plane early and stays through the ball with uphill extension, drove the ball really well from gap to gap showing present power to the middle of the field and pull-side gap
Power: 90 max exit velocity, averaged 86 mph. 331' max distance.
Arm: RH. INF-82 mph. Short and quick arm, 3/4 release
Defense: Takes longer strides, receives the ball with soft hands out front, moved well laterally and on bounder play, strong and accurate arm across the diamond
