PREP BASEBALL LOUISIANA POWER 25 RANKINGS (WEEK 5 UPDATE)

The Louisiana high school baseball season kicked off on Monday February 10, 2025 with regular season action beginning under LHSAA regulations. Leading up to opening day, we published our team previews ahead of the 2025 spring season, touching on programs spanning all classifications, counting down through the official Prep Baseball Louisiana Preseason Power 25 Rankings.

Since Opening Day, our scouts have been out and about covering the 2025 season and will be publishing scout blogs and additional in-season content, such as our Power 25 updates, Player & Pitcher of the Week awards, Scout Blogs, Diamond Notes, and more.

The Top 5

 

For the second time this season, we have a new #1 with Holy Cross taking over the top spot.  The Tigers have been stellar all season long and currently own a perfect 17-0 record.  Last week, they swept John Curtis Christian in their district opener, and things don't get any easier this week, as they have a two-game district set with Brother Martin and then the first of two games against Jesuit on Saturday. 

Live Oak moves back one spot to #2 in this update, after going 3-1 last week.  The Eagles beat Destrehan last Tuesday, before dropping a Wednesday matchup with Lutcher.  They did end the week on a high note, as they swept Walker in their two-game district series.

Catholic (BR) stays at the #3 spot this week after improving their record to 16-3 last week.  The Bears swept Mandeville Skippers in their three-game series, outscoring the Skippers by a combined 18 runs to 3 .  

Benton checks-in at the #4 spot this week after going 2-0 last week with wins over Quitman and Parkeay.  The Tigers have their hands full this week with four games, which included Parkway, Captain Shreve (two games), and Haughton.

Teurlings Catholic rounds out our Top-5 with a 13-3 record.  The Rebels only game last week was our Game of the Week betweeen the Teurlings Catholic and St. Thomas More.  That game got postponed until Monday March 17th, so we'll see if the week long layoff affects the Rebels.  

Risers

 + Barbe is back in the Top 10 after going 3-0 last week to improve their season record to 17-4.  The Bucs picked up a sweep over Carencro and another district win over New Iberia.  

+ Haughton has been one of the hottest teams in the state, as they've won their last ten straight to push their season record to 15-3.  The Bucs have a busy week this week with a pair of games against Parkway and then a mega-showdown with Benton on Saturday. 

+ Vandebilt Catholic is another team that is super hot entering Week 6.  The Terriers have won their last seven straight, which includes wins over Dutchtown and Sulphur.
