The Top 5

For the first time this year, the Top 5 has undergone zero changes after the fourth week of the high school season, and for the second week in a row, Live Oak stays at the #1 spot.  The Eagles beat Archbishop Hannan last Monday, before meeting up with Teurlings Catholic for a three-game set.  Live Oak lost Game 1 last Friday, but then took Games 2 and 3 on Saturday from the Rebels to win the series.

Benton checks-in at #2, after going 3-0 last week to move their season record to 15-1 overall.  The Tigers beat C.E. Byrd twice last week and picked up another win against North DeSoto. They'll meet up with Parkway this week for two games in district play.

Catholic (BR) stay at the #3 spot this week after improving their record to 13-3 last week.  The Bears went to Mississippi for a tournament where they picked up four wins over Gulf Shores, Mountain Brook, George County, and Presbyterian Christian.

Holy Cross owns the #4 spot again this week after going 3-0 last week with a sweep of Belle Chasse to improve their season record to a perfect 15-0.  Junior SS Dominic Pellegrin continued his hitting by going 5-11 (.455) with a HR, 2 2B, 2 RBI, and 2 R in three games against the Cardinals.

Teurlings Catholic moved their season record to 13-3 after going 2-2 last week in their four games.  The Rebels beat Berwick last Monday and then won Game 1 against Live Oak, before dropping Games 2 and 3 on Saturday.  Junior LHP Evan Vincent was sensational last Friday against the Eagles.  The Louisiana-Lafayette recruit tossed a complete-game giving up only 1 ER with 9 K's to improve his season record to 3-0.

Risers

+ St. Thomas More is back in the Top 10 after going 3-0 last week to improve their season record to 11-3.  The Cougars Vandebilt Catholic, Erath, and Sam Houston.  Sophomore OF Cooper Hawkins hit a go-ahead homerun, his fourth of the season, in the bottom of the 6th against the Broncos to seal the 5-4 win.

+ Brother Martin jumps back in our Power 25 this week with an 11-5 overall record.  The Crusaders beat Destrehan, Hahnville, and Peabody by a combined 33-5 in their three games last week.

+ Covenant Christian is another newcomer to our Power 25 this week at the #22 spot.  The Lions won all five of their games last week to improve to 15-0 on the season.  One of those was an impressive 13-4 win over Class 5A Destrehan.
