The Top 5

For the third time this season, we have a change at the #1 spot with Live Oak once again taking over the top spot.  The Eagles moved their season record to 18-4 last week with a win over St. Charles Catholic last Monday, before a two-game district sweep of East Ascension, and a Saturday district win over Denham Springs.

Benton moves up two spots to #2 in this update, after a perfect 4-0 week, which moves their season record to 21-1 overall.  All four of the Tigers wins last week came against district foes with one against Parkway, two against Captain Shreve, and finally an impressive 12-0 win over Haughton last Saturday.  Senior Kade Bryant led the charge by going 6-for-12 (.500) with 2 doubles, 2 runs batted in, and 6 runs scored, while also picking up 2 wins on the mound against Parkway and Haughton.  The Northwestern State recruit tossed 10 2/3 shutout innings with 9 strikeouts.

Teurlings Catholic checks in at the #3 spot this week after improving their record to 17-3 with four wins last week.  The Rebels biggest win last week came on Monday against district-rival St. Thomas More, as they defeated the Cougars by a score of 2-0 in 8 innings.  Junior Evan Vincent was stellar once again, tossing 6 1/3 shutout innings with 11 strikeouts, earning a tough no-decision.  The Louisiana-Lafayette commit did pick up a win last Saturday in relief against North Vermilion, after throwing 1 2/3 shutout innings with 4 strikeouts.

Barbe finds themselves back in the Top-5 at the #4 spot this week with a 20-4 overall record.  The Bucs have been on a heater lately, as they've won their last 14 consectuive games.  Senior Presley Courville made his return a couple of weeks ago, and has been a big boost to the Bucs offense and defense.  The Texas recruit hit his first home run of the season last Saturday against Lafayette and finished with 3 runs batted in as well.

Catholic BR falls two spots to #5 this week after going 3-1 last week.  The Bears beat Pitkin on Monday, before dropping a Thursday tilt with Belen Jesuit (FL) by a score of 5-3, and they finished the week up with wins over St. Augustine and Liberty.  They have a big matchup coming up this Thursday against Baton Rouge area rival Central BR.

Risers

+ Brother Martin is the biggest riser of the group this week, as they move up seven spots to #6 overall.  The Crusaders handed Holy Cross their first two losses of the season last week, before beating John Curtis on Saturday to finish the week with three wins.  Senior Ryan Darrah, a former Future Gamer and Arizona State recruit, was on fire all week, as he went 6-for-10 (.600) with 2 home runs, 3 runs batted in, and 4 runs scored.

+ Northwood has been one of the hottest teams in the state as of late, as they've won their last 13 consecutive games.  The Falcons will get tested this coming week, as they'll face district-rival North DeSoto in a two-game set starting on Tuesday.

+ Ruston is another team that is super hot entering Week 7.  The Bearcats have won their last 11 straight and now own a 17-6 overall record.  Last week, they beat a tough Sterlington team by a score of 5-3 on Tuesday, before completing a three-game sweep of Neville.
